Learn a little about the brake master cylinder

Modern cars have such characteristics that the speed of a couple of hundred kilometers per hour does not surprise anyone. Moreover, modern technologies allow a one and a half liter engine to develop 150-200 horsepower, for such an achievement ten liters ago a liter of three displacement was required.

Therefore, we can conclude that at such speeds it is important to stop on time. In turn, this requires maintaining the brake system in good condition. It is not for nothing that in the SDA the operation of a vehicle with a faulty brake system is prohibited, even to the place of repair. The main component of the brake system is the brake master cylinder.

Most systems are multi-loop. This means that the main brake cylinder itself is divided into several chambers, most often two. Such a system was most widely used, because it was the most convenient scheme: one contour per axis. Thus, even if the brakes of the front wheels fail, for example, the rear wheels will still function.

A positive point is the fact that the brake master cylinder is practically not subject to wear. The fact is that the piston in it is equipped with peculiar piston rings. They, like their "associate", perform the function of maintaining pressure. Only now they are made of rubber, therefore, the contact of the mirror of the cylinder itself with the metal does not occur. As a rule, damage occurs due to untimely replacement of brake fluid, in which particles of various foreign bodies remain.

As a rule, it is these rubber seals that wear out, because not a single rubber, whatever its properties, can be stored in the brake fluid. There are two types of brake cylinders.

For example, the VAZ brake cylinder is not equipped with a reservoir for brake fluid, it is mounted slightly higher on the body. Such a scheme is good in that the tank does not interfere in the engine compartment, and also guarantees its safety, because the temperature conditions of the engine are very high. Of course, it is made of heat-resistant plastic, but anything can happen.

There is also another brake master cylinder. Gazelle, for example. Here, the fluid reservoir is mounted directly on it. The advantages of this technology include greater compactness than in the previous build. In addition, there are no connecting hoses that, due to contact with the brake fluid, become unusable over time. They also require a fairly strong tightening with clamps, because the brake fluid has amazing hygroscopicity, and its leakage breaks the brake system .

As a rule, if wear does occur, the brake master cylinder changes with the internal parts, no matter how good they are. The fact is that it can be repeated, since wear of parts can also be the result of a defect in any part, and if it is not replaced, then all work will be wasted. As they say, avaricious pays twice. Therefore, do not spare money, because you simply have to buy a new brake cylinder again.
