History of occurrence

It is not known for certain when and by whom this rock was discovered with drawings of primitive people. The earliest descriptions of this place are found in the writings of many ancient travelers and scholars from the 17th century. In the middle of the 20th century, Soviet historians began to study petroglyphs. Long-term studies of antiquity were enclosed in the scientific work “Treasures of Tomsk Scribes” (1972). The authors of this monumental work were scientists A.P. Okladnikov and A.I. Martynov. Several dozens of articles in scientific journals around the world are devoted to this topic. Thanks to the work of these scientists, it is easier for modern society to understand what kind of vision the world had ancient people, what was their worldview.

The activities of Soviet researchers

In the 60-80s of the last century, a group of historians and their students was created under the leadership of Anatoly Ivanovich Martynov. They did a great job of restoring and preserving the ancient monument. The first restoration was carried out, a staircase was built, which to this day serves as the main descent to the rock. Thanks to radio and television reports, essays in magazines and newspapers, ordinary people learned about this monument. The first excursions to the ancient place began to be organized.

Since 1968, the territory adjacent to the pisanitsa has been declared a reserve, and in 1988 this place became a museum. A team of like-minded people headed by candidate of historical sciences V.M. Kimeev laid the foundations for the activities of this archaeological center. The first expeditions were organized to study the culture of the indigenous population of the Pritomie - Shors. The formation of the ethnographic component of the museum also began. It included architectural and ethnographic complexes "Shorsky ulus Kezek" and "Russian Siberian village". At the same time, topographic surveys of the area were carried out, the production of souvenirs began. At the end of the eighties of the last century, downstream of the Tom River, by the exploration and archaeological expedition organized by the museum staff, new drawings of primitive man were found.

Research activities

In 1991, the historical and cultural complex was headed by Galina Semenovna Martynova, candidate of historical sciences. During her leadership, the Tomsk Pisanitsa Museum (Kemerovo) continued its development. New expositions appeared in it, several conferences and seminars were held. In 1995, an international meeting dedicated to cave paintings organized by the reserve employees took place. The largest museum in Russia, which stores a collection of cave paintings "Asia Petroglyphs" and the Archeodrom complex, was also created with the assistance of the center's team.

By the mid-90s, Tomsk Pisanitsa (Kemerovo) was gaining world fame, actively participating in scientific competitions and historical forums. The main specialist of the center, academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Anatoly Ivanovich Martynov, is his permanent consultant, a man who has devoted most of his long life to the study and preservation of the reserve. The information collected by the museum staff during scientific expeditions and research work formed the basis of 4 doctoral dissertations and many scientific articles.

Today, the Tomsk Pisanitsa Nature Reserve (Kemerovo) continues its development. This is a modern archaeological complex. It combines natural originality, research and cultural activities.
