Batik is a technique of painting on fabric. There are several varieties of this decorative art that vary in complexity - nodular (the simplest), hot (the most complex) and cold batik. In this article we will tell you about the latter.
Cold batik is a technique of
painting on fabric, which uses a special reserve composition that limits the spreading of special paints on the surface of the material. Hand-painted fabric has been appreciated at all times. and therefore this type of art is in demand and popular.
Cold batik is based on the fact that all forms of the picture have a contour closed outline. This technique gives a peculiar look and character to the pattern. To apply contour lines to the fabric, use a special glass tube. It has a thin bent end and a tank, which is located closer to the working part. The latter is a thickening of a spherical shape and serves to set up a reserve composition. The walls of the bent end of the tube should be thin, since the width of the contour depends on the diameter of the hole and on the thickness of the tube itself.
What you need for classes
1. Acrylic or water soluble paints. The first are more like gouache - these are topcoats. And water-soluble is good for delicate and delicate fabrics. There are also paints that are fixed with an iron.
2. Contours can be bought in the same place as the paint. They come in various colors, as well as with effects - with sparkles or with pearlescent reflections. The contour can be done at home.
3. A glass tube is useful for applying a contour (reserve composition) to the fabric. The smaller the diameter, the thinner the applied line.
4. Buttons will be needed in order to pull the fabric on a special frame. For silk and other delicate fabrics, it is better to use either buttons with a thin tip or special three-toothed ones.
How to make cold batik and what you should pay attention to
For a high-quality circuit, the angle of the standby tube is 135 degrees. If it is kept at a more obtuse angle, then the pressure of the reserve composition will increase. And this threatens with the unforeseen spreading of liquid on the surface of the fabric. Drops may form at the beginning of the line and in places of slower movement. For this reason, the tube should be run evenly, and at the beginning of work it should be immediately lowered onto the fabric so that a drop does not form.
Cold batik - the lesson is not so simple. Therefore, taking the tube away from the surface of the fabric, it is turned upside down by the nose, after which the reserve composition leaves it.
At the same time, the other end of the tube for the batik should be slightly raised. This is necessary so that the composition does not spill. After the outline is drawn, the drawing is allowed to dry.
It should be noted that within twenty-four hours, the reserve fluid on the fabric should dry well.
Filling parts of the picture can be done with brushes, cotton swabs or tubes.
In this case, it is worth paying attention to the fact that both small and large areas are uniformly covered with paint. Otherwise, they will be of different tones, or they will appear stains.
Cold batik, a master class on which is presented in this article, is an exciting lesson. Thanks to him, you can create beautiful and unique products.
