Many educational institutions are famous for the city of Gomel. Story
The need for training knowledgeable personnel for work on the railway arose in Gomel in the second half of the 19th century, and this was due to the laying of the Libavo-Romny railway line. The birth date of the Gomel Technical School is considered to be October 30, 1878, as decided by the educational council of the institution. The first graduation of engineers took place in 1881. Until 1900, up to 25 graduates left the walls of the school every year, in the future the number of places was increased to 35 people.
In 1912, the training area expanded due to the school moving to a new two-story building near the railway station. In 1917, specialties that were relevant at that time appeared, recruitment to the departments of mechanics and construction was carried out. And in 1933 the faculty of carriages was founded, the first graduation was 129 people. From 1936 to the present day, the technical school has been located in the building on Sovetskaya Street, today the college workshops are located in the former classrooms.
After the war
With the outbreak of war, some teachers and students volunteered for the front. Recruitment for the training course began immediately after the release of Gomel. The railway college posted an announcement about the enrollment of students on the building, which was located opposite the destroyed educational building. Classes started in December 1943. Until 1946, all classrooms were restored, in 1958 another building was built for the technical school.
By 1970, students had not only academic buildings, workshops, but also two dormitories. A large number of applicants strive to get to study in the hospitable Gomel. Railway College got its modern name in 2007. At the current stage, the educational institution includes three large educational buildings, two dormitories, a training ground, and a sports town. The educational institution is a branch of the State Transport University of Belarus.

Duration of training is almost 3 years. After graduation, graduates are offered jobs in specialized enterprises of the Belarusian Railway.
