For many motorists, the Mercedes company first of all causes associations with their well-designed E-class cars. This attitude is not at all surprising. For a long time such qualities of this brand as reliability, safety level and comfort have become commonplace. Reviews about the Mercedes E class indicate that all of the above qualities of these cars are seriously improved in the new model range. Today there is already a gradual shift of the E-class sedan from the image of signs of luxury to the symbol that represents a successful business person. Its positioning in this segment of cars is also changing.
Mercedes Benz E class began its updated history in 1995, when the new W210 body was launched. On vehicles of this class, steering rack mountings, a parking sensors system and a rain sensor were used for the first time. But the most famous was its recognizable four-headed front design. This "big-eyed Mercedes" was able not only to create its own corporate identity for all models for the next ten years, but even to somehow compete with the S class. Reviews of the Mercedes E class indicate that the W210 model was almost the only new product from the end of the last century that had no comments on its reliability and quality.
The car had three types of performance: standard Classic, sporty Avantegarde and luxurious Elegance. The car in 1999 was thoroughly updated, received new bumpers and taillights, as well as an upgraded instrument package that includes a GPS navigator. An important change occurred in 2000, when the engine on the E200 model was finalized and a supercharger was installed on it, it was called E200 Kompressor. In those days, reviews of the Mercedes E class showed that such an engine made a practically technical revolution in the engine line of models of this brand. The release of the W210 sedan ceased in 2002.
The third generation of cars of this class began its history with the Brussels Motor Show in January 2002, at which its premiere took place, production began in March of the same year. Designers have increased the external dimensions of the car, due to an interesting interior solution, its volume has increased even more, while the influence of the S class was clearly visible. A very important innovation of the car was a large package of computer systems and electronics, including a new instrument panel, passive and active safety systems.
The lineup remained in three types of execution: Classic, Avantegarde and Elegance. Reviews of the Mercedes E class showed that diesel models from the E200 CDI to the E400 CDI became the most popular at that time. Among models with gasoline engines , the E200 Kompressor, E320, as well as the flagship E500, gained popularity. The most "packaged" options also began to be offered in the 4Matic all-wheel drive version. By the end of 2002, a sports version of the E55 AMG with a V8 supercharged engine appeared. Already at the Deutroit Motor Show in January 2003, the S211 station wagon was introduced, which is still the largest station wagon of this class with a huge internal volume.
In 2006, the car was restyled, during which it received a new form of the grille, mirrors, bumpers and rear signals, and a new electronics package was installed inside. Then the manufacturer focused on reducing fuel consumption and the emission of polluting gases. As a result, in 2007 two models appeared at once: the hybrid E300 CDI Bluetec and the gasoline E350 CGI. The Mercedes E class in 2011 is released after an update in 2009, during which the car received the latest security systems and for most models air suspension, seven-speed automatic transmission and much more began to be installed in standard options. Thus, it became the fourth generation of the E-Mercedes with the W212 body marking.
