Ford Explorer V is a full-size crossover from the American auto giant Ford. The model is produced from 1990 to the present. Today, the fifth generation of the SUV is being produced, which, in fact, will be discussed today. As part of a mini-review, we will consider not only the appearance of the car, but also “go over” its interior, characteristics (engines, gearbox, chassis, etc.), and also see what its owners think of the crossover. Appearance
The design of the new fifth-generation Ford Explorer is very, very attractive. Despite the fact that the SUV looks modern, fashionable and even somewhat glamorous, it still retains the "brutal" features.
The front part looks quite aggressive. A large grille with an interesting pattern and a company emblem immediately catches your eye. The headlights of the car are not too large, but nevertheless they look great. Optics, of course, is modern, multi-lens. LED daytime running lights are also available.
The front bumper has a short overhang. Along its edges are fog lights in individual L-shaped niches. In addition, the bumper has a relatively small air intake, which is a kind of visual extension of the radiator. As decoration, chrome pads are used.
Behind the crossover Ford Explorer V looks no less attractive and somehow even resembles a sports car. I would like to note the large tailgate, on top of which a neat spoiler with an LED stopper is installed. The rear LED lights, as well as the front ones, are quite small in size, but look interesting. The overhang at the bumper is short, the shape is a little curly with several stampings emphasizing the general appearance. At the edges of the bumper in the grooves is an exhaust system, moreover, a dual system (two exhaust pipes on each side).
In general, the crossover design leaves a good impression and certainly will not disappoint its future owner.
Salon
The interior of the Ford Explorer V is not much different from the pre-styling version of the "five". There are a lot of places inside. The back row is double: two armchairs at the very end and a sofa for three people in the middle. Each seat has its own adjustments, so there will definitely not be problems with comfort. Another plus - if necessary, you can increase the amount of luggage, the rear rows can be completely folded and get the so-called flat floor.
The front seats of the "five" also have a high level of comfort. In addition to many different adjustments, the design of the seats here provides for full lateral support and support for the lumbar.
The center console has actually remained unchanged compared to the pre-styling version. Here, all the same, there is a large display of the multimedia system, climate control unit, multimedia buttons, controls for various options, etc. The crossover dashboard has remained without actual changes. Everything here also has a tachometer, speedometer and color display on-board computer.
As for the steering wheel, it has several degrees of adjustment, electric power, heating, as well as buttons for controlling various functions, for example, multimedia, answering a call, cruise control and more.
Trim is available in several colors and options. The materials used are high-quality leather and expensive plastic with a texture under the skin.
Characteristics
It's time to go to the characteristics of Ford Explorer V. Of interest here are only engines, gearbox and suspension chassis. We will consider each of these points separately.
Engines and gearboxes
Initially, five different types of motors were installed on the fifth-generation Explorer. In 2015, when the first update of the car came out, the engine line was reduced to two units. With the release of the second restyling of the motors, it was still reduced, in the end there was only one.

Suspension and undercarriage
The front of the Ford Explorer V has an independent McPherson suspension, while the rear has a multi-link. Ground clearance is 21 cm. Drive type - full, 4x4. It is possible to select a mode for all-wheel drive, for example, movement uphill, movement in winter, rough terrain, etc.
The suspension and chassis as a whole can be praised, given their capabilities. Even when it enters pits, potholes, bumps and other defects in the roadway, it swallows them very softly, so that virtually nothing is felt inside.

Ford Explorer V reviews show owners love the updated crossover. They especially note excellent driving dynamics, relatively low fuel consumption, a spacious cabin for 7 seats, good technical specifications, build quality, a huge and roomy trunk, sets of various additional options, etc.
As such, the car has no serious drawbacks. The only remark: the main beam is not too bright and it takes time to get used to the location of the climate controls on the central panel.
