According to legend, in the 18th century in Russia, one woman mourned the fact that she was seriously ill, and asked the Mother of God to heal her. In a dream, the icon of the Virgin appeared to her, and the woman heard a voice coming from her. Virgin Mary herself ordered that they bring her to Moscow in Pupyshev, to the church of St. Nicholas, where there is an icon called "Satisfy My Sorrows." She must be found and prayed before her.
The woman put herself on the road and did everything that the Mother of God told her to do. Having come to the church of St. Nicholas, for a long time she could not find the icon that she saw in a dream. Then the rector of the temple ordered all the decrepit icons located there to be lowered from the bell tower. Seeing “her”, the woman exclaimed joyfully “She! She! ”And after the prayer she joined the Holy Image. Due to illness, the unfortunate woman could not stand and lay, and after a long prayer she rose completely healthy.
The first temple in Maryino
The first small temple in Maryino was founded in 1996. For the first time, the Eucharist served in the walls of the church and parishioners heard church singing on the eve of the Nativity of Christ in 1997. In 1999, Patriarch Alexy II laid the stone in the foundation of a new, stone church, and in 2001 the Patriarch himself consecrated the church and presented the rector with the icon of St. Alexei.
A few more years the temple “Satisfy my sorrows” in Maryino was built and improved until the Great Consecration of the temple took place. In 2011, Patriarch Cyril personally performed the ordained rank of the Great Consecration of the temple.
Andrei Obolensky was approved as the architect for the temple, and it was built at the expense of residents, organizations and enterprises of the region and the metropolis of Moscow. Maryinsky Church was the first church in Moscow, built in the 21st century.
Miraculous icon
Anatoly Rodionov was appointed rector of the temple “Satisfy My Sorrows” in Maryino. Despite the fact that both residents of the Moscow region and Moscow authorities built a church in a year, the priest and the clergy of the church were engaged in the improvement of it for the remaining ten years.
The temple was consecrated in honor of the miraculous icon, which is currently located in the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Kuznets. People today go to her and receive healings.
Consecration of the temple
The “Satisfy My Sorrows” church in Maryino, as mentioned above, was consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, many bishops who came from all over Russia helped him, and the abbot Anatoly Rodionov congratulated His Holiness on the occasion of the celebration of the patron saint of the Patriarch Kirill and presented him with a list icons, in honor of which the temple was consecrated.
Days and hours of temple services
The servants of the “Satisfy My Sorrows” temple give everyone a schedule of services, it is known that they conduct daily in it. A Liturgy is served here in the morning, and at 4 pm, as a rule, there is always evening service, on Saturday, the day before Sunday or a church holiday, an All-Night Vigil is served, and on Sunday after the Liturgy, priests serve prayers and requiems.
In addition, the attendants of the “Satisfy My Sorrows” temple included a compulsory reading on Wednesdays and Fridays of the Akathists of the Most Holy Theotokos.
Seven priests serve in the church together with the rector, there is their own singing staff, many of the laity help the church with their services, for example, some of them organized a church school where they help priests to teach the word of God to children and everyone. In a word, life is in full swing. A parish house was built nearby, where they not only learn the basics of Orthodoxy, but also relax and get together for a meal.
Currently, this church is a pilgrimage site for many Christians. The exterior and interior decoration of the church is beautiful and consists of two chapels, consecrated in honor of the icons of the Blessed Virgin Mary. “Satisfy My Sorrows” temple in Maryino with its income and attention feeds the orphanage for children in Maryino.
