long-suffering Job

Martyr's life

The whole fate of our character is described in the Old Testament. The book says that he was a man moving away from evil, just, blameless and God-fearing. He had a wife, three daughters and seven sons. The long-suffering Job had wealth and a happy family. Satan turned his attention to such success. He convinced God of Job's untruthful piety, saying that if he did not have such a family and wealth, he would not be so blameless. If you take this earthly happiness, you can see the true essence of this person. God decided to give Satan the opportunity to test this through various trials and temptations. He wanted to make sure Job was clean and sinless. As agreed, Satan simultaneously took away the children, and then wealth. Seeing that man remained faithful and unshakable, he added even more suffering to him in the form of terrible leprosy that covered his whole body. The long-suffering Job became an outcast. This forced him to leave the city, unfortunately, he had to constantly scrape scabs of scabs from his whole body, while being in the mud and manure. Seeing how the husband was tormented, the wife claimed that she needed to stop believing in God and renounce him.

Then Job will die as punishment. In response, the righteous said that when God gives us happiness, joy comes into our lives. We accept such a gift, but so should we and the misfortunes sent to us. The long-suffering Job with patience endured all bad weather, continuing with the same strength to continue to believe in God. At the same time, he did not even allow evil thoughts or reproaches towards his creator. Job had many friends who, learning about his torment, at first simply silently sympathized with the poor fellow. However, then they came and began to seek excuses for such grief in his past. They believed that a person should suffer for previous sins. They started talking about his faults before God and that now he must repent for his perfect misconduct. After all, nothing goes unpunished. But Saint Job the Long-suffering was pure before God and, even experiencing such torment, did not drop a single word of grumbling in his direction. He tried to explain to his friends that he had no sins and suffers such sufferings because the Lord, according to his reason, unattainable for man, gives one a happy fate, and the other - trials. Convincing them did not work. In response, they said that Job presents his punishment as undeserved, as he is trying to justify himself and is proving his innocence. After such a conversation, the righteous in prayer asked God for evidence of his innocence, so that his friends believed him.

Soon the Lord appeared in front of him in a stormy whirlwind. God indicated his requests as impudent and presumptuous, as Job demanded an account. The Lord said that for people there is much that is incomprehensible in peacemaking, the creation of all living things, and the desire to find out the true reasons why some live happily and others in agony, to learn the secret of fate is foreshadowed, this is simply not given to an ordinary person.

Healing a martyr

Soon, the long-suffering Job began to recover and make even greater prosperity. After all the torment experienced, the Lord blessed him by giving again three daughters and seven sons. Job saw four generations of his offspring, having lived another 140 years (the Old Testament says that he lived a total of 248 years). Such an example taught friends to fear only the sword of the Lord, and the deprivation of earthly goods and bodily torment can be endured.

Western philosophy

Seren Kierkegaard was a Christian thinker and expressed his opinion that in the actions of Job there is much more wisdom than in all the works of Hegel. He compared the martyr's knowledge of God's will with the construction of the thoughts of many great philosophers. In particular, and Socrates, who sincerely was confident in the power of the human mind. Modern philosophers, such as Leo Shestov, interpret the story of Job from the point of view of irrationalism.

Holy book of muslims

The Qur'an describes Job as the prophet Ayyub - persecuted and dejected. It is believed that the righteous Job the Long-suffering was the progenitor of the ancient Romans. On the territory of states, the main religion of which is Islam, there were many cities in which the tomb of Job was supposedly located. This is Salalah in Oman, Syrian Dayr Ayyub, a village near the city of Ramla, the mausoleum in Bukhara Chashma-Ayub, in Turkey - the former Edessa.

Russian modern philosophy

Political and religious philosopher Nikolai Berdyaev believes that such an example of a martyr refutes the opinion of the Jews that a person should be rewarded for his sinless behavior during his lifetime. At the same time, all the problems that fall on the shoulders of a person are punishments for his sins, God's wrath, testifying to the deviation of the suffering and the righteous from the right path. According to this philosopher, humanity simply cannot understand the very essence of innocent suffering. People in no way can refuse the expediency of everything that happens in the world around them. Many people are convinced that if there is a punishment for imperfect sins, then God simply does not exist, just as there is no divine providence.

Church erection

In Sarov, near the city cemetery, in October 2008, they began to build a wooden parish church of Job the Long-suffering. At the base of the altar, a solemn stone-laying was held. Arzamas and Nizhny Novgorod archbishop Vladyka George came to this event.

Further, the Church of Job the Long-suffering was built much more slowly, with difficulties associated with the rapid development of the economic crisis in 2009. 2010 was a period when many economic issues were resolved, such as interior decoration and insulation, fire alarms and electrical networks. The most important was the manufacture of domes. The first cross was consecrated in 2011, April 22. Three days later, the first Divine Liturgy was held. The next one took place on May 19 - in honor of the First Patronal Feast. On June 28, the Church of Job the Long-suffering (Sarov) was consecrated by Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas.
