Until now, in many houses of our compatriots you can see a wooden floor. Needless to say, often its appearance is far from ideal. To remedy the situation, people use a variety of flooring, which can significantly improve the interior of the house. A very common solution is a laminate, but because today we will talk about how to lay a laminate on a wooden floor.
Before laying it, you need to remember that the material must be left for some time in the room where it is supposed to be used. This is done in order to adapt to the humidity characteristics of the room and not to warp afterwards. This is especially important if you are going to lay a laminate on a wooden floor. The fact is that wood is a rather moody material.
In the room, the laminate is left sealed for a period of approximately 48 hours. According to experts, it is best to place it in the middle of the room. The room where the laminate is “kept” must have a temperature of at least 18 degrees and a humidity of not more than 75%.
Important! Before laying a laminate on a wooden floor, it is imperative to take care to align the latter. Some “extreme-minded” citizens believe that before laying such a delicate floor covering, it is generally better to replace old floors with new ones. Specialists, however, say that such drastic measures are useless, since old boards can only be leveled and processed with a planer. Be sure to tighten the old boards with self-tapping screws, as otherwise you can’t avoid their loosening and creaks.
When thinking about how to lay a laminate on a wooden floor, do not forget about acquiring plywood with a thickness of about 5-7 mm. It is laid on old boards, and the lining and the laminate itself are already laid on it. Note! Between sheets of plywood, be sure to leave a gap of 2-3 mm, as the floor tree beneath them tends to “play”.
Note that in rooms with high humidity to lay the laminate is not recommended. This is especially true for bathrooms. It is worth noting that some manufacturers produce products with an additional protective plastic layer: such a laminate can also be laid in a humid environment, as well as on underfloor heating systems, but you should always consult with representatives of the brand.
Before laying the laminate on a wooden floor, carefully inspect the purchased material. If the plate has defects, then it is immediately rejected. If the packaging in which the laminate was delivered was torn, there is a high risk of moisture swelling of the plates.
It should not be mentioned that the base must be perfectly clean, even and dry. Cracks on it are not allowed. On carpeting
installation of the laminate is strictly prohibited. You can
lay the laminate on linoleum or parquet, but only if they are firmly fixed.
If you want to reduce the noise of the coating, use special substrates or just certain types of laminate. The substrate is fixed with masking tape.
It is better to lay the laminate so that the light falls along the seam: so the joints are least visible. Be sure to leave a gap between the wall and the material, the width of which must be at least eight millimeters! As we have said, this is due to the capriciousness of wooden floors, which can behave unpredictably. Have you read? Then we lay the laminate on the wooden floor!
