Russian microprocessor is not only valuable fur, but also ...

Many have heard say that the technological gap between the advanced countries and the rest of the world is insurmountable. Unfortunately, Russia is in many other positions today in the rest of the world group. Here is a popular bike that appeared at the end of the era of socialism: a delegation from Japan was invited to our electronics factory. They looked at the factory, and after the tour, someone from our superiors asked: “In your opinion, tell me how far we are behind you on computers?” They modestly crumpled in Japanese, but replied: "Forever, to be honest."

But, thank God, there are people in Russia for whom the sentence of a Japanese engineer has not become an axiom. They just do their job. Here is one of the real facts: Fujitsu (Japan) acquired a license for the production of NeuroMatrix from the Moscow company Module, which is a Russian microprocessor. And although the deal was equated with sensation, it is clear that a “dense” country cannot give birth to such things, and there still exists a chance for Russia to catch up.

In the meantime, the microprocessor is far from a national product. On the territory of our country there is only an assembly of computers. Microprocessors and boards are produced in Southeast Asia, design centers - Japan, Europe, North America. Russia is not on this map.

In general, a microprocessor is the basis of any computer, it depends on what capabilities the final product will have. And although advanced developments in this field appear in our country, many unresolved problems remain with their introduction into production.

First of all, this is the lack of capacity, since implementing a microprocessor is a technically unusually complex task, requiring high-tech industries, which we do not yet have. In Russia, only a virtual life can be given to a microprocessor, and it is necessary to manufacture abroad. The aforementioned first NeuroMatrix microprocessor was made at the factory of the Korean company Samsung.

The resulting chip surpassed in some respects everything that existed in the world at that time. It had a non-standard architecture, which has no analogues. The Japanese planned to use it in cellular telephony in its new standards, for transmitting images of interlocutors in real time. The chip is not intended for ordinary home computers, although it can be installed there, but it will be like shooting a sparrow from a cannon. Since its capabilities far exceed the needs of a PC, and it must be used in incomparably more complex devices.

On the basis of Russian processors , the first monoblock computers Elbrus were released. These are stationary computers in which the system unit is combined with the display. And they differ from the laptop in that the keyboard is separate, it connects in the same way as on a regular desktop PC. The motherboard “monocub” is Russian from MCST, the microprocessor is “Elbrus-2C +” - also a Russian development. The computer has a touch screen of 1600x900 pixels, a DVD-ROM drive, there is a footprint for installing a second additional hard drive. The advantages of the monoblock are good ergonomics, attractive appearance, noiselessness, reduced heat generation.

Summing up, I want to say that it is not worth burying Russia as a country of high technologies. We have enough smart, talented, motivated people. The country's leadership understands that the time of petrodollars is passing and is actively encouraging the emergence and development of new high-tech projects. I am glad that changes for the better are taking place, because creating a microprocessor is not only a technically difficult task, it requires huge financial investments, and you can’t do without government help here.
