In the 1970s, the question arose in the Soviet Union about the creation of very powerful cars that could help in the construction of various large-scale energy facilities. As a result, the most popular machines were those with a carrying capacity exceeding 40 tons, and their technical characteristics made it possible for them to easily move around quarries. One of such widely demanded dump trucks was BelAZ 7547, which will be discussed in this article.

A powerful car is produced in Belarus. The BelAZ 7547 mining dump truck was created for transporting various rock masses in a loose state on special roads in open pit conditions. The machine can be used during the construction of large-scale industrial and hydraulic facilities, as well as during the laying of road complexes. A car can overcome significant slopes, is practically not susceptible to the road surface and, it can be said, is indispensable during the transportation of raw materials from quarries with a high degree of water inflow.
Engine
The BelAZ 7547 dump truck is equipped with a four-stroke, diesel engine, the cylinders of which are V-shaped. The incoming air is cleaned using dry filters (two-stage or three-stage) equipped with pollution sensors.
The engine lubrication system is a mixed type, the fluid in it circulates forcibly. The motor also has preheating, which is carried out by a liquid system. In addition, electric starter and pneumostarter starter systems are available.
Transmission Description
The gearbox of the dump truck is made in the hydromechanical version and has four shafts and six friction-type couplings, with the help of which the gear changes. The gearbox provides 5 speeds for forward and 2 speeds. There is also a brake with blades. The hydromechanical transmission is coupled to the main power unit and the driving axle using a pair of open-joint cardans.
Wheel pairs
On the truck there are tires with pneumatic pumping and a tread pattern of career performance. There is also a second version of the wheels - metal cordless tubeless. Both options can easily withstand a load of 14,500 kilograms per wheel, which made it possible to increase the efficiency of the entire machine. High maneuverability and high carrying capacity of the car made it possible to refuse at many industrial facilities the use of internal railway lines that are expensive to maintain.
Brake system
BelAZ 7547 is equipped with drum brakes with a separate pneumatic drive for front and rear wheels. Type of brakes - drum. However, the designers also provided for the presence of dry single-disc (in some cases, multi-disc) brakes.
On the drive shaft of the main transmission, a parking brake of a constantly closed type with pneumatic control is mounted. In the role of a spare brake, the circuit of the working brake system, which is in working condition, is used. The drive shaft of the gearbox is equipped with a hydrodynamic retarder with electric control.
Driver's cab
BelAZ 7547 has a single driver’s cab, in which an adjustable seat is installed. It is mounted on a torsion or air spring. An auxiliary side seat is also available. At the request of the customer, an air conditioning system can be installed in the cabin. Existing heaters are made in liquid form, and electric mirrors are provided on the rear-view mirrors. The steering system provides a hydraulic drive.

Design features
BelAZ 7547 is equipped with a welded high-strength platform - a bucket with a special visor to protect the driver's cab. The bucket together with the load rises to full unloading in 25 seconds, and lowers - in 20. Three-stage telescopic hydraulic cylinders provide bucket movements.
