In the Moscow region, on the outskirts of the city of Krasnogorsk, there is a Russian Orthodox shrine - the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin. Church history
The Assumption Church was built in 1618 in the village of Chernevo, which in Soviet times became part of the city of Krasnogorsk. Initially, it was a small wooden church, rebuilt several times due to fires. Throughout its history, it has undergone many changes and changes.
In 1690, a stone church was built on the site of a dilapidated church, which fell into disrepair after two centuries. Its walls were covered with cracks, and it became impossible to conduct indoor services. Therefore, the temple was dismantled and rebuilt.
In 1897 a new church building (now existing) was completed and consecrated. The construction was financed by the local merchant A. Polyakov, designed by architect N. Kakorin.
The new temple was made in the Greek style and impressed the inhabitants of those years with its scale, grandeur and beauty.
After the October Revolution of 1917, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary suffered the fate of most Russian churches. At first all valuable utensils were confiscated. Then the temple was taxed heavily. It was beyond the power of the priests to pay them, and the authorities closed the church.
The dome and bell tower were dismantled, the icons were burnt, and the walls were plastered. Iconostases and original murals were lost forever.
First, a club was organized in the building of the Assumption Church, then a hospital. A gym was equipped under the dome itself, in the annexes there was a hostel for internships, and workshops were located on the ground floor.
Only in 1990, the Assumption Church in Krasnogorsk was again opened for worship. By this time he was in a deplorable state - only walls remained of him. The building has been completely restored and restored.
Church today
The Assumption Church in Krasnogorsk is active. Orthodox services are regularly held there.
There is a charity canteen for poor citizens at the temple. Every day from 13 to 15 hours everyone can get hot meals here.
In one of the temple rooms is a children's church music school, operating on Sunday. Children from 4 to 16 years are engaged there. Now about 300 people are studying at the church school.
Classes are held in choral and choir singing, solfeggio. Those who wish can receive piano or accordion lessons. All classes at the school are completely free. Children are welcome here, regardless of whether the family is a believer or not.
Education for girls and boys is separate. For boys boys also take additional classes in drill and naval affairs.
Pupils of the school take an active part in divine services and conduct concert activities, touring in Russian cities. The Ushakov Choir of the Assumption Church in Krasnogorsk repeatedly traveled to Severomorsk and performed with its repertoire on warships.
