A bit of history
As always, a little from the history of the issue. More precisely, even from mythology dating back to time immemorial of universal human culture. It is believed that the first described Beauty Day took place during the so-called court of Paris. It was Paris who was supposed to present the prize - the apple - of the most magnificent of the female goddesses. And it was not easy to choose, because such dazzling representatives of the weaker sex as Hera, Athena, Aphrodite took part in the competition. The latter wins, she gets the apple, and she promises Paris the love of an earthly woman who would not be inferior in beauty to herself. What this promise led to - everyone knows: Paris gets Elena, and the world is plunged into the chaos of the long-standing Trojan War. So, we can say that the first Beauty Day brought so little good to humanity, except for the general idea of holding a competition and a celebration among beautiful women and girls. And to this day, almost any of them dreams of such recognition and an imaginary apple - as a symbol of the most beautiful of all.
How beauty criteria have changed
Since then, the Day of Beauty and the competitions associated with it have been and are being held in many countries of the world. These days were confined mainly to other, more comprehensive festivities (for example, Dionysius), and the evaluating human factor was, of course, men as true and persistent connoisseurs of beauty. But in different eras and in different states, the criteria of beauty itself were quite significantly different from each other.
Difference in grades
So, an ancient (not in terms of her age) Greek woman, for example, had to appear tanned, light and mobile, her arsenal of seduction should include the ability to dance to music and perform popular chants. In Rome, the same ancient, on the contrary, female calmness and white skin, hidden from the sun, were greatly appreciated.
At the time of universal love for the magnificent (Rubensovskiy) beauties, the appearance of the applicants was evaluated by their ruddyness and overall dimensions. And in the Middle Ages, for example, pallor and emphasized modesty were held in high esteem.
And that is understandable. Each time it dictates its images of femininity and beauty, and what is valued for modernity, perhaps, would be considered almost an ugliness in the era of Ancient Greece or Babylon.
Nowadays
In our modern world, many criteria are dictated by fashion designers and stylists, cosmetologists and hairstylists. The canons of beauty themselves have changed significantly. Why is this holiday traditionally celebrated in September? Back in the post-war years, in 1946, cosmetologists and beauty experts from different countries decided to unite in a world organization that would solve problems and set tasks for the implementation of cosmetology developments. So the SIDESCO committee appeared, which includes today more than 30 branches around the globe. And in 1995, the same organization decided to celebrate World Beauty Day on September 9 (in Russia, the relevant conditions were created in 1999). Since those very years, competitions and the celebration of beauty days have come into the everyday life of Russians, and the success of Russian beauties at a global level can hardly be overestimated. As for September 9th, it is on this day (except for the beautiful women) that a great many people in the service sector working for the good of our appearance celebrate their professional holiday. These are hairdressers and stylists, makeup artists and masseurs, plastic surgeons and nail service workers, fitness trainers and human body designers - all of them accept congratulations on Beauty Day on September 9th.
