Nakhimov naval school
November pre-1944 is the time when the newly opened educational institution hospitably opened its doors for the first students. 405 boys aged 8 to 13 years sat at the desks of the Nakhimov School in St. Petersburg. Almost all of them knew firsthand what war was, many were medals for their valor. The sons of the regiment, the youngs of warships — these young men made up the bulk of the newly made Nakhimovites.
Even after more than 70 years, admission to the Nakhimov School does not stop. Schoolchildren who have studied 4 classes of an elementary school are selected there . The training will take 7 years.
The educational institution is under the tutelage of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. But this does not mean that the entire educational program of the school is focused on the study of military disciplines. One of the main goals of Nakhimov is to provide his students with a full-fledged general education.
As for the tasks that the institution performs, they are as follows:
- Providing students with the basic knowledge that is necessary for further admission to specialized higher educational institutions.
- The development of a comprehensive perception: intellectual, cultural, moral, physical.

Some historical information
Almost at the end of the military operations of the 40s, when the troops practically liberated the territory of the Soviet Union from the invaders, the need for the opening of children's military corps, in which the full training of future defenders was carried out, became obvious.
The Nakhimov cadet school, opened in 1944, initially produced a set of boys who were direct participants in the hostilities, from whom the war took away their parents, those whose parents were soldiers of the USSR army and navy, party workers, and collective farm workers. The school completely took custody of its recruits, also providing them with uniforms, housing and food.
Despite the fact that the country's situation in 1944 was depressing, they nevertheless approached the preparation of future defenders of the Fatherland with responsibility. From the fronts and rear, teachers were recalled, who composed the teaching staff that trained and educated students.
You can not ignore the origin of the name of the educational institution. It became Nakhimovsky in honor of the great Russian admiral, leader of the Russian fleet, the hero of the Crimean War of 1853-1856, Pavel Stepanovich Nakhimov.
The Nakhimov School of St. Petersburg was previously not the only one in our country. If we turn to history, the first institution was founded in Tbilisi in 1943. A year later, the corps appeared in St. Petersburg, and a year later - in Riga.

Now the main building is located in the Northern capital of Russia, but there are also functioning branches of the Nakhimov Naval School in Sevastopol, Vladivostok and Murmansk.

How to enter the Nakhimov school?
To become a cadet of the Nakhimov Naval Academy, one desire is not enough. The selection is carried out on a competitive basis among physically healthy and trained boys aged 8 years and older.
Candidates for admission can be considered those males who:
- they have no medical contraindications and no health problems (according to the results of the examination, the child is assigned 1 or 2 health groups);
- Graduated from 4 classes of an educational school.
List of required documentation
Collecting a package of documents for admission to a military institution is a responsibility that lies entirely with the applicant's parents or guardians. Reception of documents begins on April 15 and lasts until May 31. What is included in this package:
- A statement from the parents of the candidate of the Nakhimov school, since they are representatives of the applicant. The form is drawn up in the name of the head of the educational institution.
- A statement written on behalf of an incoming candidate.
- For children under the age of 14, a notarized photocopy of the birth certificate is required. For people from 14 years old, photocopies of all pages of the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation are required, all of them must be certified by a notary.
- Written on behalf of the incoming autobiography.
- The following documents confirmed by the state seal: a duplicate of the student’s personal card, certified by the signature of the class teacher of the secondary school; information about the fourth grades for the last 3 quarters and all grades for the 4th quarter of the current year; it is also necessary to indicate which foreign language the student studied; the characteristics of the applicant, compiled by the class teacher of a general education institution; description from the school psychologist with his signature and the signature of the head.

- A duplicate of the medical policy of a candidate at the Nakhimov School.
- A copy of the medical card, located in the medical center of the secondary school in the form 026-2000.
- The conclusion from the doctor that the applicant has no restrictions on physical education.

Physical indicators
Physical fitness is one of the most important criteria that is taken into account at admission. When entering the Nakhimov Naval School of Sevastopol, Vladivostok, Murmansk or St. Petersburg, the child must comply with the standards for certain types of physical exercises:
- Pulling on the bar. For students in grade 5, the indicators are as follows: 5 times - "excellent", 4 times - "good" and 2 times - "satisfactory". For grade 6: 6 times - "excellent", 5 times - "good", 3 times - "satisfactory". For seventh graders: 7 times - "excellent", 6 times - "good", 4 times - "satisfactory".
- Running at a distance of 60 meters. Indicators for admission: Grade 5 - 10.5 s., 11 s. and 11.5 s .; Grade 6 - 10.3 s., 10.8 s., 11.3 s .; Grade 7 - 9.8 s., 10.3 and 10.8 seconds.
- Running (1 km): Grade 5 - 4.3 minutes, 4.45 minutes, 5.2 minutes. Grade 6 - 4.15 minutes, 4.3 minutes, 5.05 minutes. Grade 7 - 4 min., 4.10 and 4, 45 min.

Education and living conditions
Nakhimov’s students are fully supported by the school. Accommodation is carried out according to the barracks type in compliance with complete military discipline. The structure of NVMU consists of three military camps:
- Military camp No. 60. This is an educational and administrative building in which the entire educational process is carried out.
- Military camp No. 45. It is an educational and sleeping building.
- Military camp No. 69 is a dormitory building represented by barracks.
