Birth periods

A woman, especially while waiting for her first child, is afraid of childbirth. This is due to the fact that she is not sufficiently aware of this process. Having learned about what stages the process of childbirth is divided into - the periods of childbirth - you will know at what point and what to expect, you can calmly relate to what is happening. You should read about the changes that occur during childbirth, and you will feel confident.

The first stage of labor begins with the first fight. From the moment when your stomach is still inexpressibly and non-intensely ill, you can assume that the birth has begun. This period is the longest stage of labor. It continues until the uterus is fully opened. Contractions contribute to this. At first, they are irregular in nature, characterized by unexpressed soreness and short duration with relatively large interruptions in time. The duration of contractions at the beginning of the first period of labor is from fifteen to thirty seconds, breaks - up to twenty minutes.

Time goes by, and the duration of contractions increases, and breaks become shorter. If the pregnancy proceeded without special complications, and the doctor did not send you to the hospital in advance, it is recommended to go to the hospital when the periods between contractions are reduced to ten minutes. The contractions become regular, the cervix is smoothed.

The active stage of childbirth begins. Contractions become much more painful, their duration is up to fifty seconds, a break - three to four minutes. During this period, the uterus opens to eight centimeters. After this, a slowdown phase may begin, when labor is somewhat weakened. At this time, the uterus continues to open, and opens completely - up to ten to twelve centimeters.

The second period of childbirth is attempts. It begins after the cervix is maximally opened. A woman in labor will surely feel that the attempts have begun. This is manifested by strong pressure on the rectum. Between attempts, you can take a breath, take a rest, and as soon as the attempts begin again, you need to push hard (you can explain how to do this, the doctor and specialists will explain in courses for pregnant women). It is best to push 3-4 times no longer than 5-6 seconds each during the bout. Thus, the process will be less tiring for the mother, and the child will be provided with normal access to oxygen. It should be noted that traditional childbirth in the supine position has long ceased to be the optimal and most convenient way. Increasingly, women in childbirth are recommended to lie on their side, stand up, squat down. Experts believe that all these provisions contribute to a more intense labor activity than if a woman is lying.

At some point, the baby’s head is shown in the birth canal. At first, in the interval between attempts, she hides back, but when this stops, the obstetrician removes the newborn.

The third stage of labor involves the birth of the placenta, or afterbirth. Shortly after the birth of the baby, the woman again feels minor contractions. Need to push a little more. Basically, the birth of the placenta occurs 10-20 minutes after the baby is born. All periods of childbirth are over, and now is the time to carefully examine both the baby and his mother. If the mother has tears or the doctor made incisions, then they are carefully sutured.
The described periods of childbirth are characteristic of all women giving birth in each specified period certain processes occur, only their duration can differ. Remember - you should not be afraid of childbirth, because, firstly, they are inevitable, and secondly, their mothers gave birth to all the people on earth, and very soon the baby will appear with you. Awareness of how the periods of childbirth go will help you maintain confidence and be positive.
