The appearance of the cathedral was planned in the 40s of the twentieth century. The Frunze Orthodox community (the name of Bishkek at that time) received approval for the creation of the temple in 1944. Reconstruction was carried out according to the project of V. Veryuzhsky. The internal structure of the church was thoroughly considered. The three-tiered iconostasis separated the altar. The walls were finished with ceramics. The ceiling of the temple is a box-shaped arch. The roof was made gable. Temple decorations - tops on narrow drums. The church is crowned with a tent bell tower, which rises above the surroundings by 29.5 meters.
The decree of the head of Tatarstan in 1996 led to the expansion and improvement of the territory.
Reconstruction decision
Over the entire period of existence, the Svyair-Resurrection Cathedral has never been restored. Bishkek could not afford to make any significant reconstruction, only from time to time cosmetic repairs were carried out.
Archpriest Igor Dronov said that the question of a major repair arose a long time ago, but before that it was not up to him. After taking the dignity, Bishop Daniel of Bishkek decided to familiarize himself with the condition of the temples. Rising to the roof, he saw that she had become utterly unfit for use. Immediately after that, it was decided to immediately begin the reconstruction. In addition, the altar was attached, so the roof would have to be changed in any case.
Reconstruction
Holy Resurrection Cathedral of Bishkek is an architectural monument of republican significance. Therefore, in order to obtain permission to repair it, it is necessary to obtain the approval of various authorities. So, to solve the problem, it took seismologists, designers, architects, geologists and representatives of the Ministry of Culture. As a result of these visits, representatives of the diocese were left with a bunch of instructions on hand.
In such a neglected state, as was the Holy Resurrection Cathedral (Bishkek), whose photos today are an adornment of catalogs, it was already pointless to talk about repair - a complete restoration was needed. When the turn came to complete the altar of the building, difficulties began. It was planned to cover the building with a roof in the same style, but doubts arose about the ability of the walls to withstand it. After examination by various authorities, a plan was developed on how to ensure that the church does not lose its functionality.
Thus, it was decided to strengthen the foundation, part of the walls and completely replace the roof. According to the plan, the facade remained outwardly unchanged, but this is the business of designers and architects.
Finds
When workers began to dismantle the Holy Resurrection Cathedral of Bishkek, specifically the altar part of the wall, murals were found under the plaster casts decorating it. These icons appeared during construction, but during one of the repairs were closed with modern elements. Such a discovery provided food for thought about the safety of the beauty found. To do this, invited artists familiar with the restoration of such jewelry. Experts, examining the murals, came to the conclusion that they are subject to restoration. Initially, they wanted to use only a layer of paint, but in this case the probability of destruction of the frescoes increased. Therefore, part of the wall was cut out, enclosing it in a concrete frame that prevented scattering.
After the measures taken, the icons can be moved to a prepared place. Weighing about 5 tons of the icon can be restored.
Update Features
Using modern technology, architects developed a project showing the new look of the cathedral, with a high arch and new domes. It was especially important to consider the acoustic characteristics. The speech delivered during the service at the Holy Resurrection Cathedral should not sound too loud, but also not be deaf.
