The Trinity Church in Sheets was first mentioned in historical documents of 1632. The temple is called the Life-Giving Trinity not by chance, since it was from here that the ancient pilgrims began their walking journey to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.

The history of the temple

The archers rebuilt the church in stone. This Streltsy regiment always stood out for its loyalty to the king. They contributed to the capture of Stenka Razin, distinguished themselves in the Chigirinsky campaign of 1678. After the battles, they did not forget to offer thanksgiving to the Lord.

Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich favored his subjects and donated a brick for the construction of the temple, constantly monitored its construction, and sent church utensils.

The Tsar Peter I also rendered the highest mercy to the temple, since the regiment under the command of Lavrenty Sukharev was the only one who remained faithful to him during the streltsy revolt of 1689 and followed him at the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.

The status of the Admiralty and Parish was assigned to the church by decree of Peter I in 1704. Subsequently, the bell tower built in the second half of the 18th century has the characteristic Admiralty spire.
