One of the most famous educational and scientific centers of oriental studies - the Institute of the East was initially called the Eastern University, later renamed the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. This university studies almost completely Eastern regional studies in all existing areas: ethnology, languages, religion, history, management and economics, information systems with computer translation of Oriental languages, and much more. The regions studied by the Institute of Oriental Countries extend to two-thirds of the entire world - from North Africa to the Far East and from Australia to China, inclusive.
Training
The university comprehensively trains highly qualified specialists in regional studies, oriental studies for teaching and research activities, state. services, commercial enterprises, international organizations and so on. Graduates who have been given in-depth training by the Institute of Oriental Countries can become analysts, experts, and wide-field specialists.
In this university all ideas of integration of education and science are realistically and effectively implemented. It was not in vain that the Institute of Oriental Countries was created in 1994 on the platform of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. For more than twenty years, the educational process has been merging here with the gains of fundamental science. More than seventy percent of university staff are scientists from this temple of science.
Teachers
Academic science did not leave these walls, allowing to maintain and even improve the high Soviet quality of humanitarian education. Less than thirty percent of the teaching staff are only fighting for academic titles, the rest already have it, being academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences and doctors of science, noted not only by Russian high awards, but also by foreign ones, and the Institute of Oriental Countries is also famous for this.
In 2014, the head of the Japanese language department S.A. Bykova was awarded the high order of the Rising Sun. For twenty years she has been the head of the department, which has the closest ties with the country under study, so the award clearly came to the address. By the way, over the past fifty years, only forty people have received this order, and among them M. Rostropovich, V. Gergiev, I. Antonova. Many staff the Institute of Oriental Studies is proud of have excellent reviews. They are awarded both the President of the Russian Federation and the Government.
Scientific work
The integration of education and science gives access to all the resources of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, where its scientific research is located. The library used by the Institute of the East is wonderful. Student reviews often relate to the richest book fund and its well-equipped electronic department, where everything is done for ease of use. Here the development of the joint activity of students and the teaching staff takes place: the number of educational and scientific publications is growing steadily, students work in all conferences held by the Institute of Oriental Studies.
More than a hundred students took an active part in the World Congress of Orientalists (2004), they were also translators, and helped in offices, and made presentations. East University was noted with gratitude and diplomas for the excellently conducted organizational and scientific work. And student scientific conferences are held annually, often in English, and if in the east - with translation into English. Scientific works written by students are published - for this, the university has a printing base, and platforms for publishing on its own sites.
Programs
The university has programs in many ways unique, the Institute of the East is also famous for this. Their accreditation was first held in 2010. What is their uniqueness? Considering one of the most popular specialties today - regional studies, we can conclude that in other universities its content is limited to studying only one country. All regions of the East are studied here according to modern academic research, and comparative educational materials developed here.
Moscow knows the Institute of East Countries as a non-budget higher education institution, but in addition to basic higher education programs there is also a short-term professional retraining, and this is an important component of the main activity of the university. These programs not only replenish the budget, they do much more useful work for the university, establishing close ties with the real economic sector. The Institute of the East has corporate education programs, for example, holds lectures at the companies of Kaspersky and Russian airlines Aeroflot. The Institute has created specialized courses and textbooks, with many companies work has been going on for almost ten years in a row.
Graduates
After graduating from the Institute of Oriental Countries, experts are fluent in two foreign languages - eastern and western, and if there was a desire during study, then three. High quality training is confirmed by victories at various competitions. For example, those organized by the Association of Japanese Language Teachers of the CIS Countries, the Embassy of Japan, and the Department of Japanese Culture at the VGBIL (Japan Foundation) are the Moscow International Competition for Japanese and Russian Students to Perform in Russia.
Five times the students of this university won at such competitions, and there was no case that they did not become laureates. For the first time after the eighteenth century, a dictionary of the Jakarta-Russian language was compiled, richly illustrated books on the art of India were published, for which the Indian ambassador to Russia warmly thanked the creators of the book, bought fifty copies, one of which he presented to President Putin at a meeting.

These books are purchased by many universities, including Moscow State University and other universities in the country, they are not on sale for long. The Institute of Oriental Countries also publishes its own scientific journal, Vestnik Vostochnogo universiteta.
