The Oil and Gas University of Tyumen is known to all applicants who plan to connect their lives with mining. This area is very profitable, which is why the number of applicants to this university is increasing annually, but unfortunately there are less and less free places on the budget.
Why in Tyumen?
It is the Tyumen Oil and Gas University that many of yesterday’s schoolchildren aspire to work at large state enterprises engaged in mining. It was not by chance that Tyumen was chosen as the location of this university; it is in this and neighboring regions that gas and oil fields are constantly being developed.
The Yamal-Nenets and Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrugs, as well as the Tyumen Oblast, are in the sphere of interests of the government and various agencies involved in the export of oil and gas. It is here that new automobile and railway lines, settlements and all the infrastructure necessary for living are being built.
University History
Tyumen State Oil and Gas University was originally called the Industrial Institute and was founded in 1963. The university was opened at a time when the Soviet government decided to quickly develop the wealth and resources available in Western Siberia. Therefore, a specialized institution appeared in Tyumen, the aim of which was to train specialists who will serve the oil and gas industries.
Initially, the institute was divided into two faculties, as of 1979 there were already eight of them, now their number has increased several times. In 1994, the institution acquired its current name, which it still retains. The university continues to expand, over the past ten years the number of specialties has significantly increased, however, in some of them only extra-budgetary education is available.
A bit about learning
As of 2015, the Tyumen Oil and Gas University is able to annually train about 35 thousand students in various educational programs. Today, the institution is a leading engineering university of the country, where you can get training in more than 100 programs. Here, bachelors and specialists are trained, there are masters and postgraduate courses, courses also exist where you can get secondary vocational education and other working professions.
In 2007, the university managed to achieve international recognition, its teachers and graduates have the right to draw up a diploma supplement, which will operate in Europe and around the world. As of 2015, about a thousand doctors and candidates of sciences are working here, also the academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, laureates of various awards, and honored scientists of the Russian Federation are in the teaching staff.
University specialties
The Oil and Gas University (Tyumen), whose specialties are very diverse, offers applicants to choose future professions based on their needs. Undergraduates, specialists and graduate students can study here, and students from other countries are also allowed to study. The specialties of the Institute of Geology and Oil Production are particularly popular: "Oil and Gas Business", "Land Management and Cadastres", "Technology of Geological Exploration", etc.
The specialties of the Institute of Industrial Technologies and Engineering are also in great demand among applicants: "Instrument-Making", "Quality Management", "Chemical Technology". The competition for these specialties is most often higher than usual, so if you do not have very high results in the USE, think carefully about whether it makes sense to submit documents here and spend time.
Faculties
If you still decide to go to Tyumen, the Oil and Gas University, whose faculties are few, will be glad to accept you into the ranks of its students. All faculties are part of larger formations - institutions. As of 2015, there are four major institutes here - geology and oil production, management and business, transport, industrial technology and engineering.
Special in this case is the center of distance education, where you can get education in a limited number of specialties. The oil faculty is especially popular, the number of students here is always much larger than in other faculties of the university.
Cost of education
The Tyumen State Oil and Gas University, unfortunately, has a limited number of budget places, so those who do not have enough points will have to think about paid tuition. In particular, the cost of annual training at the Institute of Geology and Oil and Gas Production ranges from 52 to 115 thousand rubles, provided that we are talking about getting a bachelor's specialty. When studying in a magistracy, the cost of training will be from 52 to 130 thousand rubles per year.
The cheapest way will be to study at the Institute of Management and Business, for the year of study you will have to pay from 52 to 80 thousand rubles. Such prices are far from affordable for everyone, so first decide for yourself whether such training is available to you, and only then submit documents. If you apply to several universities, it will not be superfluous to find out the cost of training in each of them.
University ratings
The Oil and Gas University (Tyumen), whose rating is very high, is constantly expanding. According to the latest surveys conducted in 2015 by the labor market research center, the university is in 34th place in demand among all universities in the Russian Federation. According to experts, such a rating allows you to see the real situation in the field of employment of all graduates of Russian universities. In total, more than 450 universities of the country participated in the survey.
Such a high result is due to the specialties of the university, which are very in demand on the labor market. According to the leaders of the institution, with the help of such a survey, yesterday’s schoolchild can choose the profession that will allow him to successfully move up the career ladder in the future, as well as get a good salary.
