Founder of the Institute Petr Frantsevich Lesgaft
The future biologist, anatomist, doctor and teacher was born on September 8, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-seventh in St. Petersburg in a family of Germans who remained to live in Russia. His father, Peter Otto Lesgaft, was a jeweler and was a member of the Golden Arts Department. Being the owner of a small jewelry store, his father had a small income, which also affected the upbringing of the younger lad - his father taught him not only order, but also economy in everything. Peter's mother, Henrietta Adamovna, aroused in the boy from an early age a love of music. The upbringing of parents and the situation in the family laid in the boy such qualities as selflessness, respect for work, integrity - they became traits of his character and determined his whole future life.
Up to nine years, the future scientist underwent home schooling, and at the age of nine he was sent to the St. Petra. Studying was very easy for him, and at the same time he was a diligent student - he pored over books for a long time and faithfully completed assignments.
At the age of 17, the young man graduated from high school and his interest in medicine and chemistry was aroused. In the summer of that year, he became a freshman in the Medical and Surgical Academy. In the third year of the institute, he was so carried away by anatomy that he gave her all himself without a trace.
In the eighteen sixty-first year, Lesgaft successfully passed all the exams, while receiving a doctorβs degree. And Peter Frantsevich devoted his whole life to medicine.
On December 11, nineteen-ninth, the great scientist's heart stopped after a long illness. He was buried in the Volkovsky cemetery.

Reviews
Reviews about the Institute of Physical Education. Lesgaft is mostly positive. The enrolled students really like studying. The training base allows you to prepare world-class athletes, this is also facilitated by the teaching staff, consisting of honored masters of sports. Foreign citizens can also receive education, which increases the prestige of the institution.
But there are also negative reviews. For example, the parents of some students are very unhappy that when injuries occur in the classroom of their children, the student clinic does not always have the necessary equipment and medications for adequate treatment. In such cases, the injured are sent to the city hospital, and parents have to pay a considerable amount for the services of a doctor.
Budget or business unit
You can study at the institute at the budget department, having scored the required number of points upon admission, and you can also study at the commercial one, in which payment for study is carried out.
