The story of Islamic education in Moscow

The beginning of Islamic education in Moscow is usually calculated from 1744, when the first mosque was built on the territory of the Tatar settlement. She served, inter alia, to teach the foundations of literacy and faith within her walls.
The official Islamic education began in Moscow in 1871, when the first building of the madrasah at the Cathedral Mosque was built. In 1915, a stone building was erected. In 1917, the madrasah was closed, and education continued to be given in a mosque, which operated until 1936.
Not far from the Cathedral Mosque stood the house of Aga Shamsi Asadullayev. Until 1941, a Tatar school, a boarding school, and a library worked in it.
Another center of Muslim education was the madrasah, opened on the territory of the Second Mosque, located in Maryina Grove.
However, after the 1917 revolution, both madrassas were closed, and Assadullaev’s school was made a secular institution.
The revival of education programs in Moscow
The new page of Moscow Islamic education is connected with 1988, when courses on teaching the basics of Islam and the study of the Arabic language were opened in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque . After a while, they were transformed into madrassas.
After some time, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the European part of the Russian Federation came to the conclusion that the madrasah can no longer cope with the needs. Primary education is not enough. In this regard, in 1994, the Higher Theological College was established in Moscow. He was registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, received a license to conduct religious education. The first release from its walls took place in 1998.
The Moscow Islamic Institute was created in 2005 on the basis of the college, which is currently working on an in-depth program for the training of Islamic personnel. He is part of the Moscow Islamic University.
The Institute was registered as a non-governmental educational institution of higher professional and postgraduate professional education.
The institute has a charter, a license for the preparation of bachelors in the specialty "Theology". They teach it at the Moscow Islamic Institute at the faculty of the same name.
Learning process
The subject "Theology" is developed in accordance with the state educational standard of the third generation. Has a curriculum, a program of educational disciplines, a program of practical training. Graduates of the Moscow Islamic Institute are awarded a bachelor's degree in theology of the state standard.
Training for future bachelors is carried out in person (4 years), part-time (5 years) and in absentia (5 years).

Students in the institute during the training process are trained in world famous centers for teaching Islam (Egypt, Syria, Turkey).
How to enter the Moscow Islamic Institute?
The prospective applicant must submit an application in the name of the rector and attach a certain set of documents to it: a copy of the passport; proof of secondary education; medical certificate; 6 photos; fill out a questionnaire and write an autobiography.
To be admitted to the Moscow Islamic Institute, Russian citizens must have an established USE score. Otherwise, they (like foreign citizens) will pass an exam on the history of Russia, an exam in the Russian language, and will be interviewed on the basics of Islam.
The institute has a one-year preparatory department, a two-year Sunday school, Arabic and English language courses, as well as a center where Koran hafiz are trained.

Education at the institute is carried out on a paid basis. According to the data for 2018: full-time studies - 70,000 rubles a year; part-time education - 60,000 rubles per year; distance learning - 50,000 rubles per year.
The Moscow Islamic Institute of Students does not provide a hostel . Scholarships for students are not provided.
