Yuri Lyamin is a contemporary artist who prefers realism in painting, painted with a poetic feeling. Portraits, genre scenes, landscapes - these are his favorite topics.
A question that is difficult to answer
Our great artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries did not lock themselves in the narrow framework of "beautiful life." They went towards people who had specific troubles: poverty, resentment, social inequality. These themes are reflected in their canvases. The public went to their exhibitions in droves and left, discussing what they saw. Artists were known and loved. Many of them turned to the landscape, which expressed the breadth of Russian open spaces and was not only national, but also local (I. Shishkin). Others were interested in the history of the Motherland, reading the scientific literature of their time, and in their works one could see the heroic past of the country in which they lived. V.I. Surikov believed that guessing is the essence of the historical picture. Of course, there were many portraits of both famous and unknown people. Someone was an ardent opponent of the war and worked on the battlefields, not afraid of bullets and injuries or possible death. All taken together attracted people to openings and exhibitions, which often became an event.
What has left the works of contemporary artists
Later, the school of drawing began to leave. The great Pavel Petrovich Chistyakov, who brought up more than one generation of painters, believed that technology should be developed tirelessly to virtuosity. Repin, for example, rejected "picturesqueness for the sake of picturesqueness." Care in refinement - this was not for our best artists. Even V. Serov, who wanted to be carefree and write only encouraging, could not be completely careless about what surrounded him in life. Why is it interesting to spend hours looking at the works of Caravaggio, Beigel, Raphael, Rubens and Rembrandt? We randomly listed painters of the past. They are full of thought, which is expressed in an individual language. And you can admire F.K. Winterhalter’s virtuoso technique or the monochrome ink paintings of Chinese painters for a long time, each work of which is accompanied by exquisitely written hieroglyphs. The meaning of the work complements the poem. It is impossible, for example, to break away from the horses of Xu Beihong.
On this we will complete a look into the past and turn it to the present.
What influenced the development of painting in the XX – XXI centuries?
The youth of artists who are eager at any cost to fame and money that give material wealth. The 20th century fostered consumption in all areas, including painting. An example is pin-up. Beautiful pictures of seductive girls who helped sales as well as possible. From art it is very far. But this is a sign of the time of the 40-50s of the last century. We are not talking about such a master as Dali. He is revered. His paintings are worth crazy money. Here they are (and only) - examples for modern painters.
Russian people abroad
Our scientists and artists often prefer to leave their homeland and settle under more comfortable skies. Lyamin Yuri Ivanovich, what made you leave Russia? There are no interviews with you. The site does not have any of your statements. There is only a gallery of works on which prices are affixed. Yuri Lyamin, presumably, traveled all over Europe. There is a wonderful serene Italian landscape. A snow-white veranda, lit by the hot sun, a table covered with a white tablecloth, on which in a small pot-bellied vase there is a small bouquet of motley flowers.

The white columns of the veranda are twined with winding flowering greenery. White trellised parapets. And in the distance you can see the ocher roofs of one-story white mansions, pyramidal cypresses, a bay with water so blue that it just blinds your eyes. The circle is closed by gentle mountains. Such beauty Yuri Lyamin (and no one else) in our area will not see. It is only under the captivating sky of Italy that there is a fragrant tree shadow, and one can contemplate how the purple sun will plunge into the azure sea, gilding it, isn't it? Ah, Yuri Lyamin, there are amazing landscapes on our Oka, there is a cold North with lead clouds under which ordinary Russian people live and who will be happy to see their native places in the paintings. But you cannot command the heart of the artist. Yuri Lyamin chose a different path.
What is cute to the artist’s soul
A charming household scene, for example. A well-groomed young blonde mother sits with her daughter, 10-14 years old, and shows her a children's book.
Everything is lit with a soft pink light. It glare everywhere. The fabrics are expertly painted. Atlas of bedding sparkles. This cute picture is painted with love. That's what Lyamin Yuri loves. The artist appreciates the material well-being of beautiful people.
“Woman's portrait” - “Ah, what a woman, I would use such a ...”
Charming blonde in a black hat with brim at the cafe table served as a model. She is pleased with life and with herself.
Why not? She is young, her eyebrows are wide, huge eyes, a beautiful mouth and teeth, which are not ashamed to show in a smile. She poses absolutely calmly, full of naturalness. Everything happened in her life. We are not jealous. There is nothing to envy. Just in the world there are much more other people, deeper, who are overwhelmed with worries. They ask for the canvas without knowing it themselves. But they were written by Rembrandt.
"At the workout"
Light on the young ballerina falls from the top left. She bent to straighten her pointe ties. Graceful pose of a girl whose faces we do not see. But this, too, is not a piece of our life, but of the elect.
