Dental plate and removable laminar dentures - what is it and what do they serve

It is an undeniable fact that you can carry out treatment at the orthodontist at any age, but if you endlessly postpone a visit to the doctor, then it will be more difficult to correct the malocclusion. A plate for teeth is an orthodontic device that is used to correct a bite if it is incorrect. It is referred to as removable devices, as it is usually removed during meals or during oral hygiene.

A plate for teeth is used before the age of twelve. And all because before this age the dentition is growing and has greater mobility. Such a device is necessary for the child in the case when it is necessary to change the shape of the jawbone or prevent tooth displacement. Children easily get used to the plates, but parental control is necessary, you need to carefully monitor whether the child has removed the plate, or forgot to put it on after eating.

A plate for teeth is not able to move teeth, this is its significant drawback. It is most effective in the initial period of the formation of a malocclusion. More serious cases of malocclusion can only be corrected by the braces. The use of plates in childhood is considered the most sparing and cheap method of treatment.

In the initial period of installing the plates, the child will have difficulty, it will be difficult for him to talk, a lot of saliva will be released, but over time everything will return to normal. The meeting of teeth with their antagonist is inherent in nature, and a plate for teeth helps them in this. If the teeth do not meet with their brethren, but with the gums, a traumatic bite may develop. Wearing orthodontic appliances helps eliminate traumatic occlusion.

If you do not follow all the doctor's prescriptions, then in the future the child may need an expensive and long treatment. A plate on the teeth will help to form a uniform position of the dentition and relieve tense muscles. It is necessary to care for her, gently wash, and sometimes also tighten the screw.

Removable plate prostheses are the most affordable and common form of removable prosthetics. But, according to patients, they are not very comfortable. A plastic base and fixed ceramic crowns are a component of these types of prostheses. The plastic from which they are made is of two types: hard and soft.

The first option, which involves the manufacture of hard plastic, is a widespread prosthesis. They are very hard and uncomfortable, but they are available to the vast majority of patients.

The second option is a soft plastic prosthesis. These flexible nylon prostheses are extremely comfortable, soft, addictive, but cost much more than those made of hard plastics.

Indications for the use of plate prostheses are as follows: the absence of all or several teeth (sometimes even one), or adentia (in this case, the role of the familiar "false jaw" is performed by plate prostheses). Sometimes they completely cover the palate on the upper jaw, and on the lower - they rely only on the gums, or are attached with metal hooks to natural teeth.

Laminar dentures made of nylon and soft plastic are attached to the gums very securely and do not cause the patient absolutely no trouble. Dentures made of hard plastics are not so well fixed, they can rub the gums, and metal hooks are sometimes visible during communication and cling to the patient's living teeth.

Uniform load distribution during chewing on bone tissue, speed and ease of manufacture are the main advantages of removable plate prostheses. And one more plus - they are easy to care for. Change in diction in some cases, a decrease in the sensitivity threshold, since they close the main taste receptors, can be attributed to the main disadvantages of removable plate prostheses. But these devices do not have a very high cost, quite affordable for a person with an average income.
