Igor Kupriyanov is not only Black Coffee

Igor Kupriyanov became widely known during the Black Coffee group, however, the two leaders did not get along in the same team, and the musician finally found his way. He founded a successful solo project, which was called “Caffeine” on the cover of the first vinyl, but later the name became consonant with his own surname.

Biography

Igor Kupriyanov in our time

Kupriyanov Igor Evgenievich was born on November 16, 1959 in Moscow. At age 13, he had already created his own band called Bottlenose Dolphins, in which he began to sing and play the guitar. But apparently, something went wrong, and soon Igor put together a new “Arsis” team, whose activity was interrupted by the need for the guys to repay their debt to their homeland. When Kupriyanov successfully served in the army, a new project was born called "Rokappetit." An interesting fact is that each of its groups was quite popular during the years of activity.

"Black coffee"

Black Coffee Group

Once, back in 86, Igor Kupriyanov decided to found another project and arranged a casting for musicians. It was then that he met Crutch (guitarist from Metal Corrosion), who, like everyone else, came to audition. A new friend brought Igor with Dmitry Varshavsky, who just needed a bass player and backing vocalist. However, the talented Kupriyanov agreed to this with the condition that he would write and perform some songs himself. Their cooperation lasted four years (1986-1990), and in the USSR "Black Coffee" was wildly successful. During this time, the group released four box office albums:

  1. "Light metal" - 1986;
  2. "Black Coffee" - 1987;
  3. “Cross the threshold” - 1988;
  4. "Freedom - the will" - 1990.

In all the songs, pronounced bass parts are clearly heard, which are very masterfully played. According to a poll by Moskovsky Komsomolets (1988), Igor Kupriyanov was one of the three best bass players in the USSR. However, Dmitry Varshavsky "strangled" him in a creative sense, so the talented composer left the team.

The beginning of a solo career

In the 90s, the musician created a new project called "Caffeine", the sound of which was in the genre of melodic hard rock. Igor Kupriyanov at that time became not only a composer, songwriter and arranger, but also produced the project on his own. Then he took part in the show "Stallone Rockids", and shot a video clip for the lyric composition "Farewell."

A year later, Igor Kupriyanov’s album, “An Attempt to Escape”, was released, which was distributed across the Union with a circulation of 900,000 copies. His compositions were filled with romance, therefore, representatives of the fair sex were especially pleased. The co-author of the texts is Victor Kotelevsky, with whom Kupriyanov worked at Arsis. In addition to the video clip, two concert videos were shot: "The Night Guest" and "Fairy of Summer Dreams."

Pause and the new "brainchild"

Then a period of calm followed, and in the 95th world the album "White Wind" was presented, which was implemented with the support of the recording studio PolyGram. In the same year, the musician went to the mini-world soccer championship, which was held in London specifically for representatives of show business. Kupriyanov was part of the Fortune team and took an honorable third place.

Violent activity

During one interview

In 97, the musician recorded the album “Once and For All”, but the default that swept the country prevented its implementation. However, the clubs learned about the new songs of Igor Kupriyanov pretty quickly. On the composition "I chose you" and "When I was 15 years old" video clips were shot. Around the same time, the musician tried himself as the leading STS in the show "The Most-Most" and worked hard there for a year.

In 2001, the Kupriyanov group had an official website, the creation of which was attended by the iwda.group agency. In 2003, an album called "Seven Days" appeared, which was released under the label "Quadro". The composition has changed again. The disc was released in CD format and is very popular among music lovers.

“Smoke over Moscow”

Kupriyanov worked for several years on a new album, which nevertheless appeared in 2008. Studio work on “Smoke on Moscow” was often interrupted by various tours, concerts and festivals. Therefore, in total, the disc was created over four years. In 2006, work began on "Adrenaline", and after recording, the composition of the group was once again changed. Then, violent concert activity followed and a visit to the international rock festival in the city of Uzhgorod, in which the legendary "Aria" also took part.

New time

In 2009, connoisseurs of Kupriyanov’s creativity founded the official Russian fan club, whose members enjoy special privileges. In September 2011, Igor’s best album, “Trying to Escape,” was re-recorded, which was a good idea, since the sound mixed with vinyl leaves much to be desired. It also included some unrealized compositions.

album cover

November 21, 2014 Kupriyanov held a big concert on the occasion of his birthday, and also for the first time introduced the world a new song called "Time". Such rock stars as Vitaly Dubinin, Mikhail Zhitnyakov, Sergey Terentyev, Alik Granovsky, Maxim Udalov, A. Strike and Blonde Ksyu became guests of honor. Recently, the musician and his comrades have been engaged in active concert activities, and it is possible that Igor Kupriyanov’s discography will soon be replenished with a new album.
