Art Institute Structure
The structure of the institute includes the faculty of culture and arts, additional professional education. The post of dean of the faculty is occupied by E. Podguzova. Several departments function on the basis of the faculty, detailed information on which is presented in the next section.
Department of the Institute of Arts
The following departments function on the basis of the Smolensk State Institute of Arts:
- library and information activities and museology;
- folk art culture;
- humanities and socio-economic sciences;
- socio-cultural activities, directing theatrical performances and acting;
- music art.
The Department of Library and Information Activities and Museology was founded in 1996. In 2008, Mertens E.S., associate professor and candidate of pedagogical sciences, was appointed the head of the department. The teachers of the department include holders of diplomas of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and honorary workers of higher professional education of the Russian Federation.
Department of Humanitarian and Social and Economic Sciences of the Smolensk State. Institute of Arts was founded on 1.09.2016. The position of the head of the department is occupied by associate professor and candidate of philological sciences Ivanova Yu.V. Teachers of the department take part in international scientific and practical conferences and seminars, as well as on an ongoing basis and without delay complete training courses. Teachers are involved in writing and publishing educational monographs, scientific and methodological manuals.
The list of specialties and areas of training
Within the walls of the Smolensk Institute of Culture and Arts, more than 10 specialists are trained. Training is available both in full-time and part-time form.
Students have the opportunity to submit documents for the following areas of training: "Museology and the protection of cultural and natural heritage sites." Full-time study lasts 4 years, part-time students must be trained for 5 years. To enter this area, you must successfully pass the entrance tests in the Russian language, social science and history. On average, to pass successfully, you need to score at least 36 points in each subject.
In the area of preparation "Social and Cultural Activities" full-time and extramural forms are also available. For admission, you need to pass entrance tests in the following subjects: literature, Russian, social studies.
The direction of preparation of bachelors is “Library and Information Activities”. For admission, you must pass exams in the Russian language, social science and literature. On average, for each entrance test, you should score more than 37 points out of 100.
The following areas of bachelor training are also available:
- "Applied art and musicology."
- "Musical and instrumental art."
- "Folk art culture".
- "The art of folk singing."
- "Directing theatrical performances and holidays."
All entrance tests conducted within the walls of the Smolensk State Institute of Arts are in Russian. For each direction there is a specialized subject, the results for the exam in which in controversial options are priority. It is also worth noting that in the normative documents of the university there is a provision on the minimum values for entrance exams. If an applicant scores fewer points than indicated in the regulatory document, he is not allowed to participate in the competition for admission.
List of documents required for admission and deadlines
For admission to the training programs of the Smolensk State Institute of Arts, applicants must submit the required documents to the selection committee on time. These include the applicant’s statement addressed to the rector, as well as an original or photocopy of a state-issued education certificate. In addition, you must provide a copy of the passport, 2 photographs of the appropriate size and a number of additional documents.
If the applicant has not submitted a full set of documents in a timely manner, he is not allowed to tender. Also, if the papers turned out to be fake, they are returned to the applicant and he is excluded from the competition.

College GOU VPO "Smolensk State Institute of Arts"
A college also operates on the basis of the Institute of Arts, providing students with the opportunity to receive secondary specialized education. Among the programs of the college of the Smolensk State Institute of Arts is the direction "Library Science". The duration of training for this program is 34 months. Training is conducted on the basis of 11 classes. For admission, you must successfully pass the competition of certificates. Budget places are allocated 10.
Specialists are also being trained in the direction of “Solo and Choral Folk Singing”. Training is conducted both on the basis of 11 classes and on the basis of 9 classes. The term of study is 46 months. Budget places are allocated 6.
Paid training is also possible in some areas. The cost of a year of study is 50 thousand rubles.
Studios for children
Also on the basis of the university there are special studios of children's creativity, namely the studio of aesthetic development "Steps". Boys and girls aged 5 to 8 years are invited to study. There is also a modern dance studio "Extravaganza" for children aged 7 to 12 years. In addition, there are other choreographic and art studios.
