Voronezh Medical University was established in 1930 by separating the Faculty of Medicine of Voronezh State University into an independent educational institution. However, the history of medical education has a much deeper history.
History of Voronezh University
The Faculty of Medicine in Voronezh appeared in 1918, when the famous Derpt University, which laid the foundation for Voronezh State University, was evacuated to the city due to the occupation of Estonia by the forces of Kaiser Germany. And already in 1919, seventy-five doctors graduated from Voronezh.
In 1930, the Faculty of Medicine was reorganized into an independent Medical Institute, which included two faculties: medical and sanitary-hygienic. Today Voronezh Medical University is named after the outstanding surgeon N.N. Burdenko, who invested a lot of time and effort into the establishment of a medical education in Voronezh.

University students actively participate in international exchanges with their colleagues from other countries. The university has established a system of exchange of experience with both European and Asian universities, in particular with Turkish ones.
In addition, numerous students from foreign countries study at the university, which allows us to talk about the importance that the activities of a medical university on a global scale have. Most international students are from African countries, for whom a high level of qualification of medical specialists is critical, since the healthcare system in most African countries is at an extremely low level of development.
