The safety of the driver and passengers, the ride comfort, directly depend on the state of the brake system. It is the VAZ-2110 caliper that is necessary to ensure effective braking. The element consists of a piston, guides and a cylinder, designed to drive the brake pads.

Between these elements there is an oil seal that prevents brake fluid from escaping from the system. The main breakdowns of the caliper are as follows:
- The appearance of oxidation on the surface of the guide elements.
- Oxidation on the main piston, which leads to a deterioration of the mechanism.
Failure can be detected by uneven wear of the pads, as well as by increased braking distance. If you find such a malfunction, be sure to change the pads.
Diagnostics

Repair Kits
You can purchase special kits designed to repair the caliper. But there is no point in acquiring it. It is much better to replace the VAZ-2110 caliper. In this case, you will increase the life of the entire brake system, as well as improve its reliability. In such repair kits there is a grease which is necessary for the piston and guides.
It is impossible to use graphite grease of the type SHRUS or Litol-24, since this will lead to the fact that the protective shock absorbers will swell and the guides will simply oxidize. As a result, repairs will not bring the desired effect for a long time.
Caliper Removal
The mechanism is very simple in design, dismantling can be done without much difficulty. Even a novice motorist will cope with such a job. In order to remove the VAZ-2110 caliper, you will need to perform the following actions:
- Loosen the wheel bolts on the repaired side.
- Raise the side to be repaired with a jack and completely remove the wheel. Install it under the bottom of the car. This will insure you in case the car suddenly falls off the jack.
- Cars of the tenth family have a caliper mount to the bracket using two M17 bolts. They need to be unscrewed. If you cannot break the threads, use penetrating grease.
- Unscrew a brake hose which is in the top part of a support.
Assess the condition of all rubber tubes when dismantling. If they are damaged, even small cracks, it is necessary to install new elements. Such damage can lead to the fact that on the go depressurized brake system.
Installing a new caliper
The device is installed in the reverse order. To do this, follow these steps:
- Establish the case of a brake support and get bolts of fastening.
- Tighten the bolts with the wrench to "17".
- Wring out a lock plate and unscrew a bolt with a key on "13" to tilt a half of a support.
- The piston must be completely squeezed into the mechanism and install new brake pads.
- Put the caliper half in place and tighten the nut. Bend the locking plate with a chisel.
- Screw on the brake hose.
- Bleed the whole system to get rid of the air in it.
Be sure to put rubber plugs on the fittings after pumping the system. With their help, these elements are protected from moisture and dust. And at the next pumping, unscrewing the fittings will be much easier.
Caliper Repair
If you decide not to replace, repair the mechanism, then you can purchase a special kit for this purpose. It consists of the following components:
- Gaskets.
- The new piston.
- Guide elements.
The cost of a repair kit is about 500 rubles. A new support for a tenth family car, depending on the greed of the seller, may have a cost 2-3 times higher.
But before installing the new elements that are included in the kit, it is necessary to completely disassemble the VAZ-2110 caliper. This will require the use of an air compressor. Connect it to the hole for the brake pipe, and then gradually supply air. It is advisable to install a rubber spacer or a wooden block under the piston. This will avoid a shot, as the piston moves freely.
A similar action can be performed immediately before removing the mechanism. To do this, you do not need to disconnect the caliper from the system, instead of brake pads, install a small wooden block. Gently depress the brake pedal to create pressure in the system. In this case, you will lose a certain amount of liquid, but if you still planned to fill in a new one, then this is not a problem.
Installing a new piston is done using a clamp. Be sure to bend the boot so as not to damage it. Before installing the piston, it is necessary to get rid of dirt on internal surfaces with non-aggressive fluids. It is not recommended to use liquid to clean the carburetor, as it can damage rubber and plastic products.
