Prayers to John the Warrior are read by people who cannot find peace in their souls. There is little information about the life of this saint. But what is known is amazing and makes you think.
Real figure
History knows that the future righteous was born in the IV century. There are no facts about the family and the origin of the believer. But researchers believe that, most likely, the man was a Slav, because he served in the Scythian tribe of warriors.
The knight of good served in the army of the tyrant and atheist Julian the Apostate, whose reign was 361-363. The emperor was known as a wise philosopher. In parallel, he was engaged in rhetoric. He had every chance of becoming a good ruler. But then he became interested in paganism, which revealed his dark essence. Prayer to the martyr John the Warrior helps fight false faith. After all, this saint lived at a time when there were thousands of atheists around him. One he helped with words, the other with deed. There were those who realized its power and converted to Christianity.
Wrong Way
Julian from childhood grew up an orphan. Repeatedly, strange circumstances saved the boy from death. He was surrounded by the greatest minds of that time. The bishop himself took part in the upbringing. But the young man secretly admired paganism. During political events, he received the title of emperor. While full power belonged to others, Julian hid his religious preferences. But as soon as he was on the throne, he immediately set about restoring the traditions of the Gentiles. Consequently, Christianity suffered greatly. The two religions opposed each other. The emperor used dishonest methods in the fight against faith in God.
Unofficially, even prayers were forbidden at that time. St. John the Warrior was aware of his mission and tried to help people as much as possible. He got a job in the tsarist army and through tricks did good deeds.
The Apostate's Story
A very interesting story about how Julian got his nickname. Once the emperor made sacrifices to idols in the territory of the basilica, which was intended for walks and business conversations. Those places were the old blind sage. His guide was a little boy. The kid told the old man everything that was happening around. When grandfather understood what the emperor was doing, he went up to him and called him an atheist and apostate. The governor answered these words: "You are blind, and your God will not return your sight." To such a promise, the sage said: "I should thank the Creator for blindness, because I do not see your sins." Julian said nothing and continued the ritual, but since then the nickname the Apostate has strengthened behind him.
Meanwhile, the righteous soldier continued to help innocent people. He constantly and sincerely read his prayers. The Lord himself assisted in the affairs of John the Warrior.
Dark time
Today, one can learn about the appearance of a saint from paintings and icons. There, the artists depicted him as a tall, strong man. He had black hair that fell in strands on his face, and a dark beard. They painted a knight in armor and with a cloak. The authors focused on clothing, so historians learned that the saint was an equestrian warrior.
John pretended to be a fighter and without hesitation carried out his tasks. He helped Christians in distress and those captured by soldiers. He gave the captives food and water. If possible, warned people about the danger. Often a saint saved faith brothers from prison. It should be noted that the prayer to John the Warrior today helps to ensure that the innocent is released. In the event that a person has sinned, you can turn to a martyr with a request to guide the way of the light of God.
But the righteous man was merciful not only to Christians. Everyone who was in trouble or a difficult situation received help from him. The good nature of the martyr did not depend on what kind of faith a man professes.
Tragic ending
When the emperor found out about the secret life of a Christian soldier, he was very angry. He ordered the man to be captured and thrown into jail. The prisoner was starved, in every possible way they scoffed and did not give water. In difficult times, he wondered whether it was worth the punishment. The man was already ready to abandon his mission, but prayer helped. John the Warrior had the patience to ask God for salvation, and the Creator gave him the greatest gift - the power of faith.
When the prisoner was brought to prison, the emperor was on a campaign and could not impose the death penalty for a Christian in the absence. Long waited captive. But Julian was not destined to meet with the righteous. The ruler died on June 26, 363 on the battlefield. Some contemporaries of the monarch testified that the war which he started was doomed to defeat, the tyrant himself rushed at the spears of the enemy. Other sources said that the heathen died at the hands of his warrior, who was offended by him.
Therefore, by the order of the new ruler Jovian, who believed in the Lord, all religious prisoners were released. Sincere prayers helped John the Warrior, and he did not get tired of serving people.
Continuation of good deeds
After leaving the prison, the saint continued his mission. Little information remains about its continued existence. But there are facts that the righteous received the glory of a good and sincere Christian. He lived a long life and died in old age. He bequeathed to be buried in the cemetery, where the poor and wanderers lay, whom the saint loved so much.
Many years later, people forgot where his grave is. Then the Christian came in a dream to one righteous woman and told her where his incorrupt relics are. The body of the saint was excavated and transported to the Church of Constantinople.
Prayers to John the Warrior are read by people who suffer from insults, those who are treated unjustly. He acts as a defender of the truth and saves from bullying.
Words to the righteous
You can turn to the saint with these words: βThe good and strong Warrior John, the keeper of the offended, the helper of the unfortunate! Hear our prayers, for you are chosen by the Lord, your righteous path, and your actions are healing. Comfort our sadness, take away sadness, change the pain of disappointment to happiness. Strengthen our spirit and give faith, as the Most High added to you. Close our bodies and hearts from the enemy of the visible and secret. Send him an understanding of the wrongness of the actions and intentions of the evil. Ask for the slave (name) from the Creator. Let him send invisible goods, the path will be illuminated by the light of his sun. We praise God, the son of His Christ and the Holy Spirit. Amen".
