St Patricks Well is a picturesque place, very popular with pilgrims, within walking distance of the city of Clonmela. One of Ireland’s largest holy wells. Water flows into the pond, made in the early Christian, Celtic style. There is also a 17th-century church; David Flanner is well known to visitors to this wonderful place. An elderly man caring for a holy place knows almost everything about this place, and he will conduct a tour better than any guide.
The Well opens with a frame with David Flanner, known as the “keeper of the well.” He slowly walks around the well, talks with visitors, then moves to the middle of the well - this is a large pond, and cleans the surface. Soon Liv O'Donoghue, a ballerina from Dublin, “bursts into the film”. She wraps the cross in the center of the pond with white material - possibly muslin. And dancing - glides over the water, as if performing an ancient ritual.
The line between the dynamic movements of the dancer and the leisurely work of the “keeper of the well” is rather thin, but convincing. They charge this place with a special spirit, their movements on the screen capture the viewer. Biography
