How some become artists
When there are no people involved in art in the family, the sudden, spontaneous desire of his son to become an artist was received with hostility. Indeed, the young man who graduated from school had documents prepared for admission to the medical institute. Mom-doctor dreamed that her son would follow in her footsteps. However, a friend with persuasion about freedom in life, the absence of strict discipline forced Dmitry to sharply change plans. As a result, his brother fulfilled his mother’s dream, and Shorin himself, having shown his character and upset his parents, entered the Omsk State Pedagogical University. What will happen to him next, he did not look far, studying as a costume designer.
But a year later he decided to leave his native Omsk and leave for the city on the Neva. For the artist, the environment, community of thoughts, fresh impressions and ideas are important. They can be found only in the big city and find their own style.
What was the new life like?
The artist’s life turned out to be far from what it was drawn to a friend. The start was difficult. There was an acute shortage of money, an abundance of competitors, critics and ill-wishers. To enter a narrow circle of people, and there are only a dozen or two, it was very difficult to achieve the first personal exhibition. Dmitry Shorin made an almost unrealistic breakthrough. He walked a lot and now constantly goes to discos, because there a young, genuine life is seething, people have bright emotions. In clubs and at parties, Dmitry Shorin talks with his friends, watches how young people began to differ from young people of his youth.
It sounds the music that he loves. The artist is imbued with impressions that later turn out to be useful. So, having met with Sergei Shnurov, he created with him the work “Flight Field”, which is located in the new terminal of Pulkovo Airport.
How does inspiration come
Dmitry Shorin does not sit and does not wait for inspiration to come to him and he will create a masterpiece. He simply works on himself, constantly improving in mastery. The creative process is ongoing. It does not depend on time and place. The head is so constantly occupied with thoughts about work that does not rest even at night. And in a dream sometimes plots come. And in the morning Dmitry Shorin undertakes a new sketch. The artist, in spite of the family, and perhaps thanks to her (he has two daughters), does not relax. The artist prefers canvas and oil to all materials. The painter does not like acrylic paints and synthetic canvas. He is annoyed by the sounds that synthetic materials make. Most of all, he loves working with composition, with color, with the transfer of his design on the canvas.

Work sometimes goes fast, around the clock, without sleep breaks. So sorry for the artist to break away from work. Then the painting time is from three to seven days. If the picture is not like, then he can destroy it. At home, he does not keep his paintings. They are either immediately sold, or sent to the gallery. Shorin, oddly enough, does not have a favorite artist, whose work he would admire, as it does not happen in museums. He is attracted only to music and cinema. He wants to try himself as a director, especially since the finished script is at home. There are no favorite books either. But Shorin likes to read, forgetting everything, plunging into a book for two or three days, finding in it something new that poses him a problem that should be resolved. He is always curious to pose a new question and its unusual resolution.
Pictures of Dmitry Shorin
D. Shorin, not being carried away by one type of girl, nevertheless puts our contemporary at the center of his work. His girls are alike and unlike American pin-up girls, looking at which he, he believes, gets inspiration. His girls are much less flirtatious and sexy, more “heavy” and “weighty,” so to speak. They feel the presence of inflated muscles. And no airiness and romance. They are quite mundane. Some, even wearing fashionable glasses, remain themselves, and it is the glasses that emphasize the momentary nature of the created image. Now she is bright and fashionable, and in a year the glasses will go out of fashion, and the girl who can’t take them off will seem outdated.
A bouquet of dreams - so can be called the canvas from the exhibition "Holiday". In the "Holidays" of the artist about forty paintings. The work “Melody” is very cute, the heroine of which resembles the young Audrey Hepburn. The picture "Divorce" is very sweet, in which the hero freed himself from bonds and enjoys the freedom symbolized by the faded white fluffy dandelion. Only a dun, and he will fly to all four cardinal points. Grace! Just like our lonely and happy hero.

The soap bubble is free, which has come off a bar of soap and foam and now, free, flies wherever it takes. The same can be said of Swing. This is a flight to nowhere, a temporary detachment from earthly affairs and worries, to which every hero will have to return. But at the moment they are happy. Apparently, the theme of freedom is very interesting for the artist. His Holidays is a game of reality. The girl who bought a new car, possibly on credit, tenderly clings to the steering wheel, as to a loved one. The “new machine,” as this picture is called, is alive for her and replaces true human feelings for her.
Instead of a conclusion
A person treats any of the holidays differently. For some, this is a pleasant opportunity to give a loved one, for someone - to receive a long-awaited gift. But why wait for them, when you can fill the festive mood every weekday. The "holidays" of Dmitry Shorin is a return to childhood, which was different for everyone, and he makes it the same for everyone.
