If Moscow is the capital of Russia, then Krasnogorsk is considered the capital of the Moscow Region. Indeed, in addition to industrial and administrative, the city also has great spiritual potential. Judge for yourself.
Temples of Krasnogorsk
The city is decorated with beautiful ancient church buildings: the Znamenskaya Church in Gubailovo, the St. Nicholas Bogolyubsky Church in Pavshino, the Assumption Church in Chernev and others. There are many other, less well-known churches.
The most famous of all the above attractions of the city is the St. Nicholas-Bogolyubsky temple in Pavshino. In Krasnogorsk, these church buildings are located at ul. Central, 33. At the same time, only those who have been here know about one interesting feature. After all, the St. Nicholas-Bogolyubsky temple in Pavshino is not one church, as some people think, but a whole complex of two churches - St. Nicholas (St. Nicholas the Wonderworker) and Bogolyubsky (Bogolyubsky icon).
The cloisters were built in the 19th century, but at different times. Their architectural solutions are different, and the degree of preservation is not the same. But both churches constitute a single spiritual complex with the general name Nikolo-Bogolyubsky temple in Pavshino.
Background
The first in this complex was the St. Nicholas Church. A wooden building erected in pre-Petrine times (mentioned in chronicles for 1623) stood on the banks of the Moskva River in the palace village of Pavshino. The church was named after Nicholas the Wonderworker, patron of shipping and travelers. With the increase in the inhabitants of the village, it was decided to build a stone monastery. And so, from 1817 to 1823, such a church and a 32-meter bell tower were erected. Consecration took place in 1823 after the completion of all the finishes and improvements.

Further, the St. Nicholas-Bogolyubsky temple in Pavshino was expanded by the Bogolyubsky church. The background of the construction of this shrine will be interesting to many, and it is associated with the name. From history, we know that in the middle of the 19th century, a cholera epidemic raged in Russia. This disease got to Pavshino. Then the villagers took from the church the Bogolyubsky icon of the Mother of God and made a procession around their settlement. And the cholera retreated, none of the peasants fell ill. In view of such a miracle on donations, it was decided to build a temple in honor of such an icon. And it was erected next to the St. Nicholas Church in 1866.
Current state
Currently, the St. Nicholas-Bogolyubsky temple (Pavshino is a microdistrict in Krasnogorsk) holds all the necessary services. At the same time, in Bogolyubsky church, which was never closed and was the only one operating in the Soviet era, services are conducted in full. Weddings and baptisms are also performed there.
St. Nicholas Church was persecuted, was in the possession of the Krasnogorsk metal plant, rebuilt inside. Since 2002, it has been returned to the parish and is gradually being restored. In 2013, the first Divine Liturgy was produced in this church after returning to the parish. Therefore, on Sundays, divine services are held here, although there is still a lot of restoration work to be done.
