The RNS 315 navigation system is designed for installation in a vehicle. It can also be mounted in a new car. All functions are displayed on the color display. Along the edges of the screen are important system keys.
Device Overview
Specifications RNS 315 due to the presence of built-in Bluetooth tuner with AM / FM bands. You can play CDs in CD / MP3 / WMA format. There is a presence of output of climate control information and readings of parking sensors on the display. The color screen is a touch screen with a diagonal of 5 inches and a dot resolution of 400 by 240 pixels. The device is equipped with an SD card slot up to 4 GB.
The navigation software is selected directly by the user, if there is no pre-installed by the manufacturer.
In the device, the CD drive is located at the top of the device, on both sides of which there are control buttons. To the left and to the right of the display located in the center there are function keys for convenient movement between the main options of the radio navigation system. On the right are Radio, Media, Phone, on the left are Nav, TMC and Setup. Near the screen is equipped with a slot for inserting a memory card.
Description of RNS 315
At the bottom of the device there is a spinning power control button for the device, a rotary button for navigating through the menu options with two additional keys, an AUX jack and a button for returning to the previous menu.
The power button also serves to adjust the volume of the reproduced sound source. The Radio key turns on the radio mode and switches the frequency bands. Media in the RNS 315 launches the last used playback device or activates a new one. Phone - if pressed, the volume of the device being played will be muted. The function is active subject to the availability of training for using a mobile phone. The Nav key is designed to activate the navigation system. The TMC displays loaded traffic messages. Setup allows you to configure each option individually.
Setup softkey
This button has a very wide range of actions. In the supplied instructions for the RNS 315, the Setup function is described primarily because it is the most important option in controlling the device. She participates in the settings for sound, system, radio settings, settings for messages about the traffic situation, screen, media and navigation.
By pressing Setup and choosing the Sound function, you can adjust the sound volume, balance between the sides, adjust the equalizer and surround sound. Having chosen the "System" function, you will have access to the language menu, the location of the keys for entering text, the screen settings, information on the status of the SD card and its safe removal.
In Radio mode, the Setup key turns on / off the TMC function, and also sets the source for selecting radio stations using the Search button.
In the screen settings, brightness is adjusted, the image for night and day, the confirming sound tone of the buttons is turned on.
In Media Setup mode, you can activate Bluetooth, control the volume of AUX and MIDI.
When the "Navigation" option is activated, the softkey gives you access to control the navigation functions: setting the route and its criteria, volume of voice guidance, map scaling, etc.
Radio Mode Key
This mode in the RNS 315 navigation system allows you to select broadcast stations from the list or search for new ones, change broadcast stations from the contents of the station memory, or perform manual tuning.
The Scan function is immediately available. It activates automatic playback in the audible frequency band. When you press the "Tools" button and select the "Scan" function, playback will start, always lasting about 5 seconds, of all available radio stations in the order in which they are reserved in the list of stations. In order to end automatic playback, you must click on "Scan" again. The frequency at which the scan was stopped is fixed.
Also in this mode, the function of turning on / off messages about a traffic situation is available. By selecting the Extras function, a pop-up window will appear with the TP symbol, activating which the message function will start.
TMC key
TMC launches traffic message images. This function is used during aiming at the target to optimize the route in cases when transport complications arise.
In the detailed information image, it is possible to gradually view all received problem messages using the function selection keys.
Their appearance is displayed on the map with certain symbols and colors. A complicated situation encountered in the direction of travel is shown in red, and a traffic complication in the opposite direction is shown in gray.
Please note that traffic reports will be evaluated and downloaded by the RNS 315 only if navigation data (SD or CD) is available for the area of traffic.
The correctness of dynamic aiming at a target depends on the transport editions of broadcasting stations.
Media Mode Button
The option allows you to control the playback sources, including the last played. It switches between CDs, SD card, AUX, MIDI or Bluetooth-Audio.
Also in Media mode there is an Audio menu, in which the "Tools" button is available. When pressed, it allows you to start playback in random order (Mix), from the beginning of the songs (Scan), it is possible to repeat one song or the entire catalog as a whole, and "Choice" makes it possible to start a musical composition manually at the user's choice.
Please note that there are certain requirements for the media of MP3 and WMA music files. So, compact discs (CD, CD-R, CD-RW) must be up to 700 MB. The RNS 315 navigation system recognizes SD and MMS cards with a capacity of up to 4 GB and SDHC with a capacity of up to 32 GB.
Navigation Mode Button
The RNS 315 navigation function will be available when downloading software from the navigation CD. Such data must be regularly updated due to constant changes in road conditions.
In Nav mode, there is a main menu in which buttons such as:
- "Address" - allows you to enter the address of the final destination of the route.
- “Address point memory” - opens loaded destinations.
- "Recent Addresses" - opens the latest targets.
- "Gas station" - shows the nearest gas stations.
- "Parking" - the nearest parking.
- "Special destination" - opens the search bar for a special purpose.
Also in this mode, it is possible to enter a flag target by activating the button of the “Destination” function “checkbox.” This “Point ...” can always be renamed subsequently.
It is possible to conduct dynamic aiming at the target by successively pressing Setup - "Route settings" - "Dynamic routing."
