Learn how to string your guitar strings correctly

If you begin to learn to play the guitar, you will have to learn how to pull the strings correctly. It would seem that everything should be simple, but for some reason many guitarists complain about their musical instruments: "The guitar is upset too quickly, the system does not hold!" At the same time, you might think that everything is to blame for cheap accessories or an inexpensive tool. But the accessories have nothing to do with it, but you just need to know how to pull the strings on the guitar correctly.

To begin with, there are different types of strings. They are metal and synthetic (nylon). The first are, as a rule, strings for electric guitars or instruments of reinforced construction (with the presence of an anchor). Of course, they are louder than nylon, but you should not install them on a classical guitar. Without following this owl, you can even damage a musical instrument, which is not cheap. Tension metal strings need stronger than synthetic (nylon).

What difficulties does a guitar player usually encounter at the beginning of training? How to tension the strings in such a way as to prevent them from slipping out of the roller and how to fix them on the stand? Let's talk first about how to stretch nylon strings. For beginner guitarists, they are better suited, more durable and are installed on a classical guitar. Also, after playing such an instrument, the fingers practically do not hurt.

Begin by securing the string to the stand. You need to stick its end into a special hole and secure it with a knot, threading its tip into the loop several times. Thus, nylon strings are securely fixed to the stand and do not slip out. Then, without much effort, tension is applied, and we can proceed to the next stage of the process.

Now the synthetic (nylon) string needs to be fixed and wound on a peg. This operation is also simple. The synthetic string on the roller is fixed simply if, when winding, give it a little tension, holding it with your hand. For each string in the ring mechanism, a specific roller is provided. If you follow this order, then the ends will not cause inconvenience during tuning the guitar. Comfort in learning and playing a musical instrument is essential. That's basically it.

Now let's talk about how to pull metal strings (for electric guitars). Attention should be paid to the fact that metal strings are different from synthetic ones. They are stiffer, and in the stand are fixed using special balls available at the ends. That is, you do not have to make a loop and tie knots to fasten a metal string. The process is carried out in the following sequence:

  • First of all, as in the previously considered case, metal strings must be fixed in the stand. You just need to thread the tip of each of them into the corresponding hole on the bridge and pull until they are fixed by a special ball. The stretch is performed using sufficient force. Make sure that the ball sits snugly in the hole in the bridge or stand.
  • After fastening on the bridge / stand, the metal guitar string is brought to the head of the neck and passed into the hole of the corresponding peg. For the purpose of subsequent winding, the string must be slightly loosened.
  • In the direction opposite to rotation, a bend is made on the splitting ring.
  • By rotating the corresponding handle, it is wound onto a peg. In this case, the strings must be slightly tightened with your free hand. This is done so that the winding is more dense and to avoid slipping.
  • The string is placed in a slot specially designed for it in the nut, its tension continues by rotating the handle of the stake.
  • After properly performed tension, you can bite off all the excess with forceps.

How to tension the strings after completing the above processes? It remains to make the correct tuning of your musical instrument. While the strings are new, especially synthetic, they will be upset for some time, and the guitar will have to be periodically tuned. Subsequently, everything is normalized.
