"Seventeen Moments of Spring"

Despite the success of the picture, the work was not easy for the composer. It was hard for him to find contact with Tatyana Lioznova, in the end, their relationship was spoiled for a long time. This was the reason that the composer was not nominated for the State Prize. But the composer was pleased to work with Joseph Kobzon. He easily grabbed information and reproduced it. The lessons that Kobzon received at that time, he was able to carry through all his work, and the performance of songs over the years has not changed at all.
The picture was a huge success. Music from the film was a hit of the time, everyone recognized it. Melodies were performed not only on television, but also on the radio. During the Song-73 festival, both compositions won first places and prizes.
But along with success came trouble. One fine morning, Tariverdiev received a telegram from the French Embassy, ​​which said that the melody from the film was stolen from Francis Lei. History grew like a snowball. At first, the composer simply laughed, then tried to explain that he wrote the composition much earlier, and only the first interval was similar, but soon he had to go in search of Leah himself.

The composer was sentenced to 2 years in prison, but he was released under an amnesty. This event left an unpleasant imprint in the memory of Michael Leonovich.
