Autumn in St. Petersburg has its own distinctive features. The most characteristic and expected in recent years was the event taking place in one of the suburban residences of the imperial family called Peterhof. The closing of the fountains here is an annual celebration, which has become the object of pilgrimage for tourists from around the world.
Beautiful fall festival
Previously, the fact of closing was always covered with sadness, although visiting the parks became free, and hand-held squirrels simply prevailed on rare visitors. Peterhof itself is unusually beautiful, but its fountains, of course, are unique fountains.
And so, the authorities of this administrative unit turned the event, suggestive of winter longing, into a wonderful holiday, which Peterhof was always worthy of. The closure of the fountains every year more and more turns into a colorful extravaganza, which is eagerly awaited by the residents and guests of the Northern capital. After all, no matter how good the laser shows accompanying the Olympics and Spartakiads, the following performances will be even better.
Naturally, the closing of the fountains in Peterhof in 2013 was the most striking and advanced compared to previous seasons.
But the main distinguishing feature of the 2013 holiday was that from the beginning to the end it was dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, thanks to which, in fact, Peterhof himself arose and achieved his perfection and wealth.
Dedication to the House of Romanov
The multimedia show told about each reigning representative of the Romanovs separately and about the achievements of this entire glorious dynasty in building the Russian state. As you know, by 1913, the Russian Empire was one of the leading world powers.
The heart of park fountains is the Grand Cascade. Here the performance began, which unusually rejuvenated the ancient Peterhof. The closure of the fountains became the apotheosis of the summer season. Water extravaganza, each jet soaring into the sky was accompanied by pyrotechnic or laser lighting. The theatrical costumed action took place right there, transferring the audience to the era of crinolines and wigs. A multimedia show projected onto the walls of the Grand Palace showed the audience the history of the Romanov dynasty.
The hosts of the holiday seem to have foreseen everything, even the performance of brass bands, preceding the main show. The various highlights of the 64 fountains of the Grand Cascade, merging together, represented an amazing color scheme that did not leave any of the 255 bronze statues in the shade.
Magic farewell to the fall of 2013
The main magic began with the advent of darkness and lasted 45 minutes, making tens of thousands of spectators the participants. Thus, the
Peterhof fountains themselves
, closing the season of their work, are on a par with the most brilliant celebrations held on the territory of Russia.
Year by year, the festival is gaining strength, gaining fame and popularity in different parts of the world. Many try to coincide with a trip to St. Petersburg to an event that added appeal to the “capital of fountains”, whose name is Peterhof. The closing of the fountains is a spectacle that will exceed all expectations and become unforgettable.
