The Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps in St. Petersburg is the first educational institution of its kind in the recent history of Russia. Over the 20 years of its existence, the KMKK has become one of the leaders in terms of training future sailors and patriots of the motherland.
History of creation
The Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps (KMKK) was created in 1995 by the efforts of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who was then vice-mayor of St. Petersburg, Anatoly Alexandrovich Sobchak - mayor of the city, and Igor Vladimirovich Kasatonov - the first deputy commander of the Russian Navy. The birthday of the building was a landmark date for thousands of students and graduates - 11/22/1995.
Location
The Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps is located in four military camps in the city of Kronstadt with a total area of 8.32 hectares. The educational and material base meets all the requirements for a general educational institution. The required conditions have been created for living and comprehensive provision of pupils, for conducting educational work.

Training base
For training sessions, the necessary educational and laboratory facilities are equipped. The Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps has 28 training classes, 24 classrooms. Of them:
- 8 - a foreign language;
- 2 language laboratories;
- 3 - mathematicians;
- 2 - Russian language and literature;
- 2 - computer science and ICT;
- 1 - chemistry;
- 1 - fine art;
- 1 - geography;
- 1 - history and social science;
- 1 - OBZH and the fundamentals of military and naval training;
- 1 - biology;
- 1 - chemistry;
- 1 - car class;
- 2 teaching rooms.
The rooms of chemistry, physics and biology have laboratories equipped with modern equipment. To conduct labor lessons and circle work, a carpentry workshop and a modeling workshop are used. The assembly hall for 200 people allows for general body events.
Sports base
Everything necessary for the development of physical culture and improving health is equipped with the Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps. Feedback from parents and teachers indicate that children during training become stronger physically and psychologically, hardy, their performance, perseverance and discipline increase. Many of the guys over the two decades of the cadet corps' existence have worthily shown themselves at sports events of various levels.
The Kronstadt Maritime Cadet Corps boasts a full-size athletics stadium with a closed treadmill. The complex includes: a five-a-side football field, a football field 60x40 m in size with artificial turf, a basketball field , two volleyball courts with a rubber coating, two gymnastic camps for cadets of younger and older age, a hockey box.
Serving the Fatherland!
In addition to physical education, drill training is conducted for cadets, including in the fresh air. To organize classes in general-military training, the corps has a parade ground. Classes contribute to strengthening health, discipline and a sense of responsibility, allow students to feel that they are part of a single, united team, a large family called the Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps.
Talks are regularly held with students on military-patriotic topics. Various events are being organized, the largest of which are Victory Day, Navy Day, February 23, and KMKK’s birthday. The institution is regularly visited by respected high-ranking officials, among the guests of the corps: President V.V. Putin, Minister of Defense S.K. Shoigu, high military command, politicians, veterans, foreign guests (in particular, the Minister of Defense of Sweden).
Advanced training
The Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps is equipped with the most modern educational equipment. Student reviews show that learning in an institution is interesting. The building has created the possibility of the full use of innovative technologies (including Internet technologies) in training. In the educational process involved:
- 28 AWP (automated workplaces of teachers);
- 63 interactive whiteboards;
- 39 MFPs (multifunction devices);
- 22 printers;
- 2 scanners;
- 584 laptops (cadets use personal devices);
- administrative staff provided with 118 computers.
There is a local area network based on Windows Server 2008 in the package. Internet services are provided by Rostelecom at a speed of 10 Mbps. The created conditions make it possible to involve parents living in other regions of the country in the educational process.
Library
Despite the rapid development of the Internet, books remain the basis for full knowledge. The Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps has an excellent library with a reading room for 50 seats. Currently, the library KMKK from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is registered 24524 copies of books, of which 23 097 copies of educational literature. The main fund is 1,427 copies. Over the past year, the library stock has increased markedly.
Life
KMKK provides children with all the necessary conditions for round-the-clock living. On the territory of the building there is a large dining room, providing the possibility of simultaneous eating for all students and teachers. If necessary, medical assistance will be provided in their own medical center with a hospital for 10 beds. The equipment of the sleeping quarters of the pupils complies with the requirements of SanPiN and the Charter of the Internal Service of the RF Armed Forces.
Educational process organization
The educational process in the building is regulated by the corresponding program, curriculum and class schedule. Training is conducted from the fifth to eleventh grades. The curriculum, implemented in the building, defines the following areas of the team:
- implementation of educational programs of general basic as well as general secondary education (profile level);
- improving the quality of education by attracting highly qualified specialists, expanding the range of educational services, introducing effective pedagogical technologies;
- providing students with the opportunity to receive a wide range of non-core additional education;
- competency-based approach, providing multi-level, variability of the proposed training programs.
Studying at the KVMC is a special stage in the socialization of the child, into which he enters with his existing system of relationships with the environment, life stereotypes, attitudes, and value orientations.
Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps: what to do
A feature of the KMKK when enrolling in education is its orientation to children who find themselves in difficult situations or who live in remote regions. Priority candidates for admission are:
- Orphans
- children without guardians;
- children whose parents serve in remote garrisons;
- children of contract servicemen or retired with a total experience of 20 years or more;
- children of heroes of the USSR and the Russian Federation;
- children of military personnel, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other services that died while performing their duty.
Moreover, all future cadets must be fit for health reasons, have the appropriate level of education and submit an application.
The application and documents can be sent by mail (address: 197760, Kronstadt, Zosimova, 15) until June 1 or in person (the selection committee works on weekdays from 9:00 to 18:00). The package of documents is extensive. Papers, as a rule, are sent (certified) by the directors of the institutions where the candidates were previously trained (lived), or by the commanders of the units where the parents serve.

- birth certificate;
- pension insurance certificate ;
- medical records and vaccination information;
- medical insurance policy;
- permission of parents (guardians) to engage in sections;
- copies of passports of parents and other data.

Psychological support service
In order to ensure social adaptation and operational coordination of the activities of students and teachers, an emergency socio-psychological service was formed by order of the director of the corps. Its composition includes educational psychologists of the educational department and the social work methodologist of the educational work department of the corps.
The creation of an emergency socio-psychological service made it possible to ensure the coordinated activity of all participants in the pedagogical process in pedagogical support of the social adaptation of the new set and the speed of decision-making on problematic issues, to combine the efforts of the teaching staff in solving specific practical problems.
21st Century Building
Current trends in the development of society and information technology pose a new ambitious task for the cadet corps. Thanks to decent funding, the Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps is equipped with the best examples of modern technical training aids. Today, 100% of classrooms are equipped with modern interactive whiteboards, computers and multimedia projectors, each cadet has at its disposal a laptop. The institution operates wireless Internet around the clock, and content filtering of unwanted information is configured.
Interaction with parents has changed qualitatively. Using the LMS-school system, any current issues are quickly resolved. Parents can see grades with teacher comments, recommendations of specialists. There is an opportunity in the "question-answer" mode to communicate with any specialist representing the Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps. Photo club, music, literature, sports sections, modeling - each of the pupils can realize their ambitions.
Teaching staff
Over the previous academic year, the qualitative composition of the team has changed significantly. Laboratories of educational innovative technologies and technical teaching aids were created, new specialists were involved in solving complex methodological problems, and engineering and technical support for the educational process was established.
All this allows us to organize the uninterrupted work of technical teaching aids, to provide constant methodological support to the team, and to teachers to more creatively approach the cadet training process.
The teaching staff has great hopes, because it is the teacher who can and should interest students in the content of his subject, instill in the cadets the desire to independently obtain new additional knowledge. Decent conditions and remuneration of labor make it possible to prestige the work of teachers and create a creative and competitive environment in the team that contributes to the overall development of the corps.
