An instruction is a guide or a collection of rules, actions, assignments, or a description of the methods and procedures for performing something, such as taking a medicine. The instructions are different not only in appearance but also in content, respectively, and the preparation of instructions is carried out in different ways.
General view of the instructions
According to the description or set of rules, the production of instructions can be performed in three versions.
- Booklet. Instructions in the form of a folded sheet of A3 or A4 format, having two folds. The content of the booklet instruction should have the maximum amount of information, so when ordering to execute instructions of a large amount of this space may not be enough.
- Brochure. A manual with printed information ranging from four to forty-eight pages, typically A5 format. By production, these documents go through several stages.
- Translation of the declared text if the device in use is made abroad.
- The layout of the instructions is carried out by the designer in strict accordance with the rules presented to the manual, and in accordance with a specific layout.
- The print run is carried out as part of the order and can be done in any format and in any quantity.
- Post-printing processing allows you to bring the production of instructions to the final stage. In this case, paper is trimmed according to the specified format, page-wise assembly of the material and binding or fastening of the instruction by springs or staples.
Manufacturing Instructions for Medicines
The preparation of instructions for medicines is carried out in a strict form, without the content of drawings, in rare cases, the use of tables or color logos is permissible. The manual provides a description, dosage, order of use and side effects of the drug. The font for such instructions is selected in accordance with the size of the future size of the leaflet and should be as simple as possible in visual perception. A small font may be used if the manual has a large amount of text.
Instructions for medicines may take the form of a folding form or be in the form of an “accordion”. Therefore, the task of the designer in the layout of the document is to correctly determine the location of the folds of the manual and, in accordance with the wishes of the client, build detailed information on the drug. The prescription for medicines is carried out on a thin or newsprint of white color without textures and patterns. The color palette in the production of such leaflets is usually black, but blue or red is allowed, provided that the text on the entire manual is written in full in one tone. When printing, the offset type of printing is selected if the instruction is black and white, and digital when a different color is selected.
Assembly and instructions for it
The manufacture of assembly instructions is characterized by the presence of schemes and a listing of the sequence of actions during the installation of different parts of the goods. In the manufacture of such manuals, color photographs of product details or the process of mounting them may be used.
For assembly instructions, it is advisable to select a booklet type of printing, but it is also possible to use a single sheet of paper divided into pages. Printing methods are performed in both color and black and white. Assembly instructions are needed for any type of product where you need to correctly stack the parts together. Many products can be accompanied by such instructions: from toys to sophisticated equipment.
Job description production
The preparation of labor protection instructions differs according to the type of profession and the place of work of the contractor, so there is no single style in the production of such manuals. The designer of the printing house may advise printing the document either in booklet form or on A4 sheets fastened together by a bracket.
Such instructions indicate the behavior of the employee at the workplace, safety measures and actions in the event of an accident or equipment failure.
Requirements for the production of instructions in the printing house
When ordering printing of instructions, a single unit of requirements is presented to the printing house. To calculate the cost of the order you need to know such moments:
- The number of copies or circulation.
- The format of the future instructions.
- Density of paper and its appearance.
- The presence on the instructions of colored parts.
- The need for pre-or post-press processing.
When printing large instructions, layouts may be required. They must be made in PDF format with correctly placed photos or illustrations. Many printers can accept information without a layout and do it themselves for an additional fee.
