Volkswagen Multivan is a model of a passenger minibus from the German automaker Volkswagen. The issue of this car was not conceived by the concern by chance - so the company wanted to compete with the manufacturers of Citroën, Peugeot and Fiat, producing minibuses that became popular in the car market.

Volkswagen Multiven was designed not from scratch, but on the basis of a Transporter model minibus, which engineers simply equipped with seats and windows. Serial production of this car began in 1990.

Volkswagen Multivan was created on the T4 platform, which had two modifications with bases of different lengths. Both included 6 seats and offered several trim levels, differing in material for upholstery and trim and the presence of a variety of equipment. The minibus also possessed transformability: the position of the seats and the table on the port side could be freely changed, and the dimensions of the loading space could be adjusted at one’s discretion.

The first restyling of the Volkswagen Multivan was performed in 1996, in which the changes affected the nose of the minibus. The volume of the engine compartment was increased, it housed a new 2.8-liter gasoline engine . From this moment, Multivan began to differ not only in the length of the wheelbase, but also in the “noses”.

In 2003, the release of an updated model began, which received an upgraded platform and a new exterior. The dimensions of the body also increased, with an increase in the number of seats to 7, the range of engines was transformed.

In 2009, Volkswagen Multivan survived the facelift, as well as technical upgrades.
