The American concern Dodge decided to crowd out its competitors in the D-class, introducing the Dodge Avenger sedan to the world automotive community. The novelty, of course, attracted attention, however, what exactly lies behind it and whether it is worth the rapture - we will tell below.
Exterior
The new generation of Dodge Avenger is positioned by the manufacturer as a stylish and aggressive car for young people. For a reasonable price, customers are offered rich equipment, powerful engines and innovative active and passive safety systems.
Avenger’s belonging to the American car caste is immediately visible: aggressive and rude appearance proves this: large headlights, a radiator grille with a corporate cross, and the design of the rear wings in the style of muscle cars of the 60s of the last century attract attention. Dodge designers did their best by creating a unique car with an unusual exterior.
Interior
The owners of the Dodge Avenger in the reviews noted that technically the car is an old-familiar Chrysler Sebring: a similar platform, a line of engines and suspension settings. The difference is just the exterior and interior of the model.
The main complaint made regarding cars associated with Chrysler was the poor quality of materials used for interior trim. Dodge Avenger did not escape such criticism: the interior is made in cold shades of gray, plastic leaves much to be desired, the interior itself is very ascetic and boring. However, the landing of both the driver and passengers is good, the space is also enough for comfortable accommodation.
There are mistakes in the ergonomics of the cabin: adjusting the deflectors distracts from tracking the road, landing, despite its convenience, is not perfect, the seats could be installed better. However, the regular audio system, the instrument cluster on the panel and the climate control unit, which were simple and convenient, could not but please.
Among the pleasant things in the reviews of the Dodge Avenger note a small refrigerator for drinks, located in the front panel above the glove compartment. An optional package includes the seat trim with the highly practical YES Essentials fabric, which does not absorb odors and dirt, is easy to clean and does not fade.
Despite the presence of a large number of pleasant details, the overall boring impression of the Avenger interior remains unchanged: the internal content does not correspond to the promising and aggressive appearance.
Dodge Avenger Specifications
The new Avenger, as already mentioned, is an almost complete copy of the Chrysler Sebring in technical terms. One of the most bought is a modification of the Dodge Avenger with a 2.4-liter World Engine and a variable valve timing system. Engine power is 170 horsepower. Complete with it comes a four-speed adaptive automatic transmission. Despite the fact that such installations are considered outdated, they do an excellent job.
Test Drive
The technical characteristics of the Dodge Avenger are quite enough for a dynamic ride on the highway and leisurely following the general flow in the city. Maneuverability of the car at height: convenient side mirrors help to monitor the situation on the highway. The acceleration dynamics of an American car is limping: it is extremely reluctant to gain speed on the highway.
In the case of the Dodge Avenger, the theory converges with practice: it accelerates to the first hundred in 11 seconds specified in the technical data sheet, even if the gas pedal is pressed all the way, and this is due to the fact that a test car was installed on the car 2 , 4 liter engine. Accordingly, in the case of a two-liter power units, the acceleration time to 100 km / h will only increase, which is not good.
For both versions of the engines, the maximum developed speed remains within 200 km / h, but in practice it is extremely difficult to accelerate the Dodge Avenger to such indicators - the car does not have special dynamics and accelerates very badly.
As for the controls, the Avenger behaves very well on even road surfaces, however, when the first irregularities appear, the driver has to cling tightly to the steering wheel. To keep the car within the established trajectory, it is necessary to exert effort and steer, which, however, does not affect the overall comfort and ease of driving.
There is more than just enough space for the rear passengers: you can easily fall apart on the seats. A little confused by the lack of a normal view from the back of the sofa: triangular lining on the doors spoil the whole picture.
Summary
Dodge Avenger - a car with a spectacular, bright and memorable appearance, seasoned with a spacious and relatively comfortable interior is not the most attractive finish. From a technical point of view, it is equipped with not the most powerful and dynamic, but quite economical engine.
In fact, Avenger will be more to the taste of those who prefer an eccentric appearance, but not at all impressive technical characteristics.

In 2010, the Dodge Avenger was restyled, and updated models were delivered to the markets of European countries. Only dorestyling versions of the sedan were officially delivered to Russia in two versions: with a two-liter engine and a manual transmission and a 2.4-liter engine and automatic transmission. The minimum cost of the Dodge Avenger starts from 290 thousand rubles in the secondary market.
The sedan was assembled at the Chrysler plant in Michigan until 2013, after which it was discontinued. To date, Dodge Avenger can only be purchased in the secondary markets of Russia or Europe. The cost varies depending on the mileage, equipment and general condition of the car.
