How to make a battery at home: 4 ways. Graphite Rod Application

Of course, it’s easy to buy a battery in any household goods store, electronics store or hypermarket. However, for the sake of interesting experiments and gaining knowledge of the "school of life", it is still worth knowing how to make a battery yourself. Moreover, the process of such work is very entertaining and uncomplicated.

Lemon Battery: Two Options

For the first option you will need:

  • lemon itself;
  • galvanized nail;
  • 2 small pieces of copper wire;
  • copper coin;
  • a small light bulb.

The process is as follows:

  1. Make two cuts on the fruit at a certain distance from each other.
  2. Place a nail in one incision and a coin in another.
  3. And to the nail and to the coin, connect a piece of wire. The second ends of this makeshift wiring should be in contact with the contacts of the bulb.
  4. And all - let there be light!

A homemade sour fruit battery can also be made with:

  • the same lemon;
  • paper clip;
  • light bulbs;
  • 2 pieces of insulated copper wire with a diameter of 0.2-0.5 mm and a length of 10 cm.

The algorithm is as follows:

  1. Strip 2-3 cm of insulation at the ends of each wire.
  2. Attach the bare part of one wiring to a paper clip.
  3. Make two cuts in the lemon 2-3 cm from each other - along the width of the paper clip and for the second posting. Insert these elements into the fruit.
  4. Attach the loose ends of the wire to the contact part of the bulb. If it does not catch fire, it means that the selected lemon is not powerful enough - consistently combine several fruits with each other and repeat the experiment.

Potato battery

Stock up:

  • two potatoes;
  • three wires with clamps;
  • two chrome nails;
  • two copper nails.

how to make a battery do it yourself

So, how to make a battery of tubers:

  1. Give the symbol for each of the potatoes - "A" and "B".
  2. In the edges of each of the tubers, stick on the chrome clove.
  3. To the opposite side is a copper nail. Nails should not intersect in the body of potatoes.
  4. Take some battery powered device, remove it and leave the compartment open.
  5. The first wire should connect the copper tuber pin β€œA” to the positive pole in the battery compartment.
  6. A second wire connects the chromed potato pin β€œB” to the negative pole.
  7. The last wire connects the chromed tuber A nail to the copper tuber B nail.
  8. As soon as you close all the wires in this way, the potato will power the device.

Potatoes in this experiment can be replaced with banana, avocado or any of the citrus fruits.

Foil, cardboard and coin battery

Before making a battery, prepare:

  • copper coins;
  • vinegar;
  • salt;
  • cardboard;
  • foil;
  • Scotch;
  • two pieces of insulated copper wire.

Everything is ready? For the cause:

  1. First, you need to thoroughly clean the coins - for this, pour vinegar into a glass container, add salt there and pour money.
  2. As soon as the surfaces of the coins are transformed and glistened, remove them from the container, take one and 8-10 times circle its outline on the cardboard.
  3. Cut cardboard rounds along the contour. Then place them in a container with vinegar for a while.
  4. Fold the foil several times so that you end up with 8-10 layers. Circle a coin on it and also cut the round parts along the contour.
  5. At this point, start collecting the battery. This is done like this: copper coin, cardboard, foil. In this order, put in a column all the components you have. The final layer should be only a coin.
  6. Strip the insulation off the ends of the wires.
  7. Cut a small strip of tape, glue one end of the wiring on it, put an improvised battery on top, and the tip of the second wiring on it. Securely fasten the structure with duct tape.
  8. Connect the other ends of the wire to the β€œ+” and β€œ-” of the device you want to nourish with energy.

Perpetual battery

Prepare:

  • glass jar;
  • a silver element - for example a spoon;
  • cling film;
  • copper wire;
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda;
  • 4 vials of glycerin;
  • 1 teaspoon of 6% apple cider vinegar.

How to make a battery, read on:

  1. Wrap the spoon tightly with cling film, leaving its upper and lower ends slightly exposed.
  2. Now it is time to wrap the spoon on top of the film with copper wire. Remember to leave long ends at the beginning and at the end for contact. Make space between the turns.
  3. And again a layer of film, and after it - wires in the same way. Layers of "film-wire" on this makeshift coil should be at least seven. Do not overtighten the layers - the film should be wound freely.
  4. In a glass jar, prepare a solution of glycerin, salt and vinegar.
  5. After the salt has dissolved, a coil can be immersed in the solution. As soon as the liquid becomes cloudy, the β€œeternal” battery will be ready for use. Its service life directly depends on the silver content in the coil-based element.

Graphite Rod: Application

The graphite component of old batteries is not only the basis for a new energy source, but also an element that can be used for electric welding. This is done according to a simple scheme:

  1. Sharpen the graphite rod from the old battery at an angle of 30-40 degrees.
  2. With a crocodile clip with a non-conductive handle, connect it to the β€œ+” and β€œ-” of the AC or DC source.
  3. Connect "0" and "-" to the stripped part.
  4. The electrode must be sharpened periodically as it burns out.
