There is no signal on the monitor. Looking for a problem
Sometimes the user has to deal with such a problem as the lack of a signal coming from the video card to the monitor. Simply put, the monitor screen in such situations refuses to turn on. There can be many reasons for this. First of all, suspicions fall on the video card, while not without soil, because it is from it, through the cable, the signal passes to the monitor. But it's not always the case. When there is no signal to the monitor from the video card, there may be several problems.
There are actually a lot of reasons for this problem, and it can take a lot of time and energy to determine it. First, you should analyze everything that happened with the personal computer in the near future, because when there is no signal to the monitor, this should have been preceded by something. Were there any jumps in the temperature of the video card, and how its cooler behaved. Whether the video card was pulled out (perhaps by inserting it back, you did not install it tightly). You should also be aware that this can be not only a video card, but also other components of a personal computer. Before you start any tests, examine the computer (this refers to all the boards: motherboard, video card, RAM slots). They may cause burnings or swelling of the capacitors. If everything looks intact, we go directly to the search for the problem and think why there is no signal on the monitor.
First of all, you should inspect the power supply. If the video card has been replaced recently, then you need to make sure that the power of the power supply is enough to provide the video card with electric power, in such cases there is no signal to the monitor and the cooler does not work. Having decided on the power supply, you should go to the RAM. If several memory sticks are installed in the computer, then you need to try to start separately from each of them. With the RAM finished, go to the motherboard. You need to pull out the video card and try to start the computer without it. If nothing happens, you can pull out the RAM. The motherboard should start to panic and emit various sound signals, during such tests there is no signal to the monitor, so we do not pay attention to it. But this is not always an absolute indicator. It was the turn of the monitor. To check if it works, start the computer, turn on the speakers and wait for the operating system to start. If you hear a greeting, then the matter is in the monitor.
Having completed all these tests, it is necessary to move on to more decisive measures. First, we need a second, obviously working video card. If you have an old one, it’s good, but if you have a friend who is ready to help you with tests, then it’s not bad either. Now you just need to install the video card and wait for the results. With a high degree of probability, a working video card will allow the computer to start, but if the matter is something else, then everything will remain the same as before. If the second option occurred, then you should not be upset, but we are one step closer to solving the problem. True, it is unlikely to be reasonable to do something on our own, since a full scan of a personal computer is required, but for this it is better to contact professionals.
Now consider the option when it turned out that the video card is not working. Of course, it’s great if it is under warranty (before you bring it to the service, carefully examine for possible defects). Okay, well, if we took the card and got a new one. But it happens that an old card is installed in the computer, which is currently not possible to change, and it is impractical to carry it for repair to the service. In such cases, you can try to do it yourself and use such an unconventional method as heating (or even roasting) the video card. In this article I will not consider all the intricacies of this event, but I will say right away that in this way you can extend the life of a video card for a period of two weeks to several years.
