Mayan Prophecy - Fiction or Inevitable Reality?

In recent years, more and more people are discussing the Mayan prophecy regarding, according to some experts, the end of the world. What should people prepare in the near future?

A special piquancy of this whole story is given by the fact that planet Earth has at least once survived a planetary catastrophe. It was in the area where the Mayan Indian tribe lived - near the Yucatan Peninsula - 60 million years ago that an asteroid fell, which made possible the “end of the world” to dinosaurs living on the earth for millions of years.

Experts who studied the Mayan calendar argue that for us the "end of the world" will be held on December 21, 2012. Comparing the calendar of this tribe with our calendar system, scientists counted it and made a number of ambiguous conclusions. In their opinion, the Mayan prophecy concerns the grandiose events that will occur on our planet in the near future. The Mayans were convinced that the universe existed in great solar cycles. Their priests believed that 4 Suns (cycles) have passed since the creation of man. Now mankind lives in the 5th solar cycle. The first 4 Suns were destroyed by various elements (earthquakes, winds and cyclones, volcanic eruptions, giant floods). Each of the cycles lasted from 4 to 5 thousand years.

The fifth Sun, according to Maya, will disappear as a result of the movement or shift of the Earth. We know that even a slight displacement of the axis of the Earth can lead to irreparable consequences, and now scientists say that the axis is gradually but steadily shifting, especially under the influence of recent earthquakes. Perhaps the Mayan prophecy concerns this particular problem.

According to the decoding of the ancient calendar, December 21, 2012, the cycle of the Fifth Sun ends and the world ends. In fact, this conclusion is alarming because the Mayans were always considered excellent astronomers who know many secrets of the universe, and in 2012 their calendar ends. So far, archaeologists have not discovered any other artifacts that would have continued the further reckoning of the Mayans.

No one really knows why the Mayans created such a calendar and where the dates indicated in them came from. According to modern astronomers, during the winter solstice this year, the Sun will be in the zone of the Milky Way galaxy. Of course, it is absolutely incomprehensible how the representatives of ancient civilization were so able to calculate a certain date in the distant future. However, do not despair. The Mayan prophecy may also concern a radical renewal of the world or a new rebirth of all things. It is not clear which event can globally affect the course of history. Some scholars are inclined to believe that after this date the Era of spiritual insight will begin. Others make a more pessimistic forecast. They suggest that literally a physical end will come for humanity and all living things, and perhaps for the Earth.

Although hundreds of “doomsday” have been predicted and expected throughout the history of man’s existence, this last Mayan prediction is especially annoying to everyone. And the reason for this is not only the Mayan prophecy and their calendar, but also in the recent increase in global natural disasters. The political situation in a number of different countries is not conducive to optimism, especially in recent years. Even the most convinced optimists cannot help but realize that humanity is facing several threats of a planetary scale: geological disasters, a nuclear threat, the fall of a celestial body. No one knows where and when the next catastrophe will happen, and no one will ever be able to prevent them (with the exception of preventing a nuclear war). Therefore, it is hardly correct to say that the “end of the world” will take place on December 21, 2012, since natural disasters and the displacement of the axis of the Earth will continue in the future.

It is within our power to only reconcile with the inevitable, and at the same time try to change and correct what we really can. You should not sit and wait for a catastrophe, since no one ever (even the brilliant Mayans) could and will not be able to predict the future of the whole Earth and humanity up to 1 day. The very concept of "end of the world" can be "stretched" in time not only for days, months, years, but also for centuries.
