Putty EP-0010: technical specifications, instructions for use

EP-0010 putty is most often used to smooth out bumps, chips and scratches on metal surfaces. With proper processing, such a putty tightly seizes on the metal, concealing all its flaws. But before proceeding with its use, it will not be superfluous to carefully study the technical characteristics of EP-0010 and familiarize yourself with a brief instruction on its use.

What is EP-0010?

EP 0010

This is a mixture of special pigments with the addition of plasticizers and fillers, flavored with a solution of epoxy. The basis of the mixture is organic solvents. It also contains hardeners of natural origin.

The best setting of the putty is observed on specially treated surfaces, although it can be used without them. Its property - hardening, literally glued to the surface structure of metals - is very much in demand in the construction and decoration of any, not only metal surfaces, although initially it was oriented mainly to metal.

Also, the technical characteristics of EP-0010 putty allow it to be used in a diluted form for priming under various kinds of epoxy materials. Among other things, it is also good for protecting surfaces from moisture. After applying it, the surface is supposedly protected by a layer of full and strong waterproofing.

Guidelines for surface preparation

Surface preparation

Mandatory conditions for surface preparation are:

  • Cleaning metal from rust and foreign contaminants. Scale is also advised to remove. The cleaning must comply with the parameters of GOST 9.402-80 (grade 2), that is, the metal must have a metallic luster and a rough surface, slightly darker in the places of the former cleaned scale.
  • Degreasing surfaces with various types of solvents appropriate to the case. It is allowed not to degrease immediately after the end of shot blasting, limiting itself only to cleaning inaccessible or most dirty areas.
  • The cleaning of porous substrates should also be carried out qualitatively. All contaminants should be removed whenever possible. If the application is to be on a concrete surface, it must be completely solidified. It is recommended to wait a month after making a fresh concrete coating.
  • Between the end of the surface preparation and the application of the EP-0010 primer with technical characteristics, a delay of more than 24 hours is not provided. Otherwise, 100% setting is not guaranteed.

Application Recommendations

Primed surface

Temperature indicators of the surface (base) on which the putty will be applied should not be less than +15 ° C and more than +30 ° C. In accordance with the technical characteristics, EP-0010 putty primer should not be produced at different temperature indicators, since the resulting coating cannot be considered as high-quality, due to disturbed solidification / drying of the mixture.

The main nuance of using putty as a primer is a correctly selected solvent. Technical characteristics of EP-0010 imply the use of solvents of the grades R-4, R-5, R-5A, 646. For these purposes, putty is diluted to the required degree of viscosity depending on the application methods (brush, roller, UBR or air spray).

You must also adhere to the desired ambient temperature. In accordance with the technical characteristics of EP-0010, it is not recommended to carry out work with its use if the air temperature is below +5 ° C or more than +35 ° C.

In conclusion - on security measures

Flammable poison

The material described is flammable! It is not recommended to inhale concentrated vapors of the finished solution, as well as you should beware of getting its particles into the body. Given the technical characteristics of EP-0010, it is recommended to perform work related to putty only when wearing rubber gloves and constant good ventilation.

The substance should be stored in places cleaned from moisture and direct sunlight.
