Now for the decoration of walls, floors and facades, ceramic tiles are widely used. But no matter how high-quality and beautiful it may be, the glue on which it is laid plays an important role in creating a strong and durable surface.
One of the most effective and popular tile compositions for laying various types of tiles and porcelain tiles today is Ceresit CM11 glue, which is a dry mix. Its operation is allowed in conditions with periodic or constant exposure to water, as well as in the temperature range from -50 ° C to +70 ° C.
Characteristics
The popularity of this particular brand of glue from the German manufacturer Henkel is not accidental. After all, Ceresit CM11 is distinguished by high operational properties.
These include:
- good water and frost resistance;
- safety for human health, since it contains no toxic substances;
- the ability to prevent tile slipping (not more than 0.1 mm);
- incombustibility;
- durability;
- simplicity of laying.
Application area
The purpose of Ceresit CM11 is to fasten ceramic or stone tiles, the water absorption of which is not less than 3%, and the size does not exceed 40x40 cm, on various non-deformable substrates, namely: concrete, brick, cement plasters and screeds, both outside and inside buildings, including some types of rooms with constant high humidity.
It is also used for laying porcelain stoneware (for internal use only), having a water absorption of at least 3%. This applies to unheated floors located in rooms with low mechanical stress in both residential and public buildings.
Additional features
The introduction of CC 83 elasticizer in the adhesive mixture significantly expands the scope of application of Ceresit CM11 adhesive. In this case, it is used for laying tiles of any level of water absorption and of various types - ceramic, clinker, stone, as well as porcelain stoneware.
In addition, the bases and types of structures on which the installation occurs can be:
- fiberboard, OSB and drywall boards related to deformable substrates;
- cellular, light and "young" concrete;
- anhydride and gypsum surfaces;
- acrylic paint coatings with strong adhesion to the surface;
- screeds having heating;
- facades, socles and entrance groups of buildings;
- steps of external stairs, floors on open terraces and balconies;
- operated roofs;
- covered tanks;
- indoor and outdoor pools.
How to use glue?
The composition of the mixture of which the tile adhesive Ceresit CM11 consists of includes cement, mineral fillers and polymer additives. This leads to the fact that the prepared composition after dilution can be used for two hours, and you can correct the tiles no longer than 25 minutes after laying. Grouting is done 1 day (not earlier) after the installation process is completed.
You should also be aware that during the laying of tiles on Ceresit CM11 glue, air and substrate temperatures are allowed in the range from + 5 ° C to + 30 ° C, and the ambient humidity should not exceed 80%.
Glue consumption
Before masonry work begins, it is advisable to know how all the materials will be spent. And if the number of tiles can be calculated quite accurately, based on its size and the surface area on which it will be laid, then with glue the situation is a little more complicated.
So, for laying tiles, Ceresit CM11 glue was selected. Its consumption can be different, which is due to factors such as the size of the tile itself, the height of the teeth of the comb, the quality of the base on which the tile is attached, and the professionalism of the styling specialist.
There are exact tables where the glue consumption is given (kg / sq. M.), Based on all these parameters, both with and without CC 8 elasticizer.
The average consumption of the mixture is 2.95 kg / sq. m. More specifically, then on a standard tile measuring 25x25 cm with a comb tooth height of 8 mm, tile adhesive Ceresit CM11 is consumed in an amount of 3.5 kg / sq. m
Glue goes on sale packaged in bags of 5 and 25 kg. Such packaging is very convenient, because it allows consumers to both transport and unload it without involving special equipment and movers.
Starting repair work, make an estimate and think carefully about what building materials you will need and in what quantities. Such an approach to business will save not only time, but also a decent amount of money. If you yourself are not able to calculate the cost of repairs, then you can always resort to the help of specialists.
