Needless to say, in our small apartments, rooms, as a rule, perform several functions. They are both a study and a bedroom, a living room and a dining room, a bedroom and a nursery, etc. And it’s very good if there is an opportunity to separate these functions and equip one room, albeit a very small one, only for family relaxation and reception of guests.
When designing any room, it is important to determine all its advantages and disadvantages and, taking this into account, develop a design. A small living room can become very comfortable if, when planning it, it is wise to dispose of a small space and choose finishes, furniture and accessories, taking into account the area. A modest room has one important advantage - for its arrangement, even with a modest budget, you can choose expensive, exclusive materials, because they will need a little.

The success of any project depends on thorough preliminary preparation. This is important when we equip a room and develop its design. A small living room, fulfilling only its intended purpose, will be beautiful, cozy and warm if it is not overloaded with unnecessary furniture and accessories, choose the right color for walls and ceilings, and also skillfully distribute light sources.
Wall color
Light pastel colors of the walls expand the space. However, this does not mean that bright colors cannot be used in small rooms. Dark saturated coverings are effectively combined with light furniture and a white ceiling. It is better to choose a plain wallpaper, but if you really liked it with a pattern, then only one wall is recommended to be glued with them, turning it into a decorative panel.
Furniture and Design
A small living room should not be crammed with bulky furniture. You should abandon the large cabinets and walls, no matter how comfortable and spacious they are, and replace them with light shelves and built-in racks, as if "dissolved" on the wall surface. A very good solution for small rooms is to use a window area (which, as a rule, is not involved in the interior) for placing narrow and light open cabinets. Of course, the center of any living room is a soft group consisting of a sofa and armchairs, as well as a small table. Upholstered furniture does not have to be placed along the walls. A good layout will be a composition in the center of the room from small double convertible sofas, especially if you complement it with an electric fireplace against the wall and a TV panel.
Light design
The small living room should be well lit. Various light sources visually expand the space, create a special atmosphere and comfort.
In a small room, you can easily refuse the central ceiling chandelier by replacing it with hidden lights around the perimeter of the ceiling, spotlights and
ceiling spots with directional light.
Floor or table floor lamps with large lampshades are installed in the recreation area. Additional cozy light sources are wall sconces and artworks with a weak directional light stream.
Textile
Heavy multilayer curtains overload the interior design of a small living room. The photo above demonstrates one of the most successful window decoration options in a small room - lightweight white curtains combined with a Roman curtain or blinds, which, if necessary, darken the window, but leave the small room light and filled with air.
