Max Cavalera: life and work

This man is a living legend of thrash metal, because at the time, together with his brother, he did something unprecedented for Brazil. Max Cavalera and his brother Igor, as teenagers, put together a gang called Sepultura, which gained worldwide fame and still attracts new admirers. By the way, the brothers left the group long ago, but now it’s not about her. This article will present interesting photos of Max Cavalera of different years.

Childhood

Massimiliano Antonio Cavalera was born on August 4, 1969. Place of birth is the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, in which his father served as consul at the Italian embassy. Horatio Cavalera fell in love with the local girl Vania, who worked in a modeling agency, and from this happy union the family had two wonderful boys - Max and Igor.

Brothers from childhood raved about music and admired the work of bands such as Motorhead, AC / DC, Queen and Iron Maiden. Max Cavalera already realized that he would never become either an “office plankton” or a factory worker. When the guys lost their father, the eldest of them was only 16. To relieve pain and distract from sad thoughts, the brothers created their own group.

"Sepulture"

Sepultura Group

Having decided to make a living through music, the guys invited their comrades and began to work closely. In 1984, a group of Max Cavalier appeared under the name Sepultura. At that time, the guys just got acquainted with the music of the Venom metal band, which directly influenced their own sound.

The “engine” in this project was originally Max Cavalera, as he was the author and composer of all the songs. Many of them are written on such serious topics as religion and politics, which, in fact, has become the hallmark of the Sepultura group. They became a kind of pioneer, because before that in Catholic Brazil there was not a single truly difficult team.

In 1989, Cavalera went to New York with his future wife Gloria Buinovskaya, who was the manager of Sepultura, to sign a contract with the Dutch record company Roadrunner records. Until the 91st year, the guys were based in Sao Paulo, but then they changed their Brazilian citizenship to American and settled in Phoenix (Arizona). Then Max Cavalera and the team released Arise vinyl, which received platinum status. And in the next album of the 93rd year of release, the music was enriched with elements of Brazilian folklore, which became the highlight of Sepultura.

Care and its reasons

Image is everything!

In 1996, the cult album Roots was released, after which a big tour was planned, but it was not destined to end until the end. The reason for this was the sudden death of Dana Wells - stepson of Max Cavalera, who crashed in an accident. This sad news made the musician drop everything and go to the funeral.

Max and Gloria were very upset by this loss and were in deep mourning. However, other members of the group nevertheless performed one more time within the framework of the same tour, and friends helped them in this. Dana was remembered by a minute of silence by all the fans who were present at that concert, but Gloria and Max Cavalera found this inappropriate. Therefore, the musician soon left the group and founded the solo project Soulfly. However, there is another version, according to which the reason for the departure of the leader was an internal conflict over the change of manager.

Solo career

He is kind in his heart

After the death of Dana, Max Cavalera decided to honor his blessed memory with an album recorded together with the idols of the stepson himself. Alternative metal stars such as Corey Taylor, Jonathan Davis, Chinno Moreno and Fred Darst took part. This has become a good tradition, as Cavalera commemorates Dana Wells with annual concerts on the day of his death. By 2008, the brothers reconciled and created a joint project called Cavalera Conspiracy.

Personal life

Cavalera family

The wife of Max Cavalier, Gloria Buinovskaya, is sixteen years older than her husband, and she has children from her first marriage. An interesting fact is that Russian blood flows in her veins. The fact is that her grandmother once emigrated from Russia, fleeing from Soviet power.

Gloria has a native aunt in Omsk, which she and her husband often visit. Despite the fact that Max Cavalera creates rather brutal music, as a person he is quite religious. In infancy, he was baptized in the Vatican, but Orthodoxy was closer to the musician in spirit, so not so long ago he changed his faith.

The Cavalera family currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona. They have two children in common - Zion and Igor.
