Making graves and caring for them is the last opportunity to give honors to a departed person. The burial place should have an atmosphere of quiet, bright sadness and be convenient for everyone who comes to remember the deceased. According to the established Russian tradition, each grave is set up with a table and a bench where one could sit down.
It is important to remember that the design of graves has its own laws, it is extremely important sense of proportion. If during the design of other sites you need a game of colors, uplifting, then the cemetery requires respectful restraint and rigor.
Grave sites are limited in area, which dictates the need to comply with specific standards in design. It is important to arrange the grave so that its appearance is in harmony with the general view of the cemetery. What should be the proper design of the graves in the cemetery? The photos below reflect successful options.
The assortment of plants that would be suitable for decoration is large. Using several types, you can achieve a holistic composition that meets the basic requirements listed. Plants that are suitable for registration of burial places are usually divided into:
- framing;
- forming a lawn;
- seasonal.
The grave site is best divided into three parts, where 10% is allocated for seasonal planting, up to 25% for framing, and the rest is allocated for ground cover and lawn plants.
In the first year, it is better to limit yourself to planting a tree and annuals. With perennials and shrubs, unfortunately, you have to wait at least a couple of years. The first three years the soil will sag (the time of subsidence depends on the soil), and only then we can think about the design of a permanent composition.
Children's graves are decorated mainly with annuals or perennials that bloom for as long as possible. Typically, low flowers are selected that give a delicate color. Sometimes, in order to facilitate care, preference is given to low ground cover plants, which, growing, cover the grave like a carpet, giving a sense of peace.
Sometimes the conditions do not allow you to design the grave as relatives would like, and you have to confine yourself to stone slabs and gravel. But from bare stone comes bitterness, sadness and oblivion. Itβs better to plant non-capricious perennials that grow without much care: fern (in a shady place), aquilegia, peonies, ornamental cereals.
It is worth considering what time of year you come to the graves of deceased loved ones. It would be better to dwell on those plants, the peak of growth and flowering of which occurs during the visits. If you often cannot come, plant shrubs instead of flowers (horizontal cotoneaster, euonymus, shrubby cinquefoil). It is better that the bush does not exceed two meters in height. By the way, most shrubs can be cut and shaped.
The design of graves with evergreen conifers, such as cypress, thuja, microbiota, fir, looks very impressive and solemn. They practically do not require leaving, do not need formation. If you stop on trees with powerful root systems, do not plant them in the immediate vicinity of the monument - growing, they can mow it and even cause cracks.
