What kind of music to listen to?

The fact that music has the ability to influence a person has been known for a long time. About two thousand years ago, there was a famous doctor who was called Asclepius. He treated his patients in a very original way: playing the trumpet or flute, and even created a special theory on how to listen to music so that it would be more useful. Patients had to be in a bright, spacious and comfortable room, sitting or lying down, relaxing, and at this time not to hear any other sounds.

I belong to the category of those people who rarely appear on the street, and even more so in public transport, without headphones. I guess I'm listening to something almost constantly. It can be a classical work, a rock composition, an audiobook or a radio play. That is why the question of what kind of music to listen to is not at all uncommon. Friends, acquaintances and colleagues often turn to me for advice. I want to share my thoughts on this subject in this article.

1. What kind of music to listen to? Is there any universal advice?

Honestly, it seems to me that the answer simply does not exist. Why? Because, firstly, we are all initially different from nature, someone is more energetic, and someone is prone to reflection and melancholy. Secondly, choosing music in our player or launching a file on a computer, we can pursue our personal goals. Someone wants to relax and rest, and someone needs to tone the music, fill it with strength and energy.

Of course, all these works will be very, very different: in terms of genre, rhythm, and content.

Perhaps musical addictions depend on the status or social role of the listener? Check it out?

Take any well-known youth movement. Have you ever been interested in knowing what kind of music emo is listening to, for example? Favorite musical performances of this subculture are a rather amazing mixture of different genres, styles and trends: punk music, jazz, india rock, techno and pop punk. Those. if you look, then there is no specific and strict criterion either, although one main feature can be traced - emotionality.

It turns out that music is in no way connected with our position in society, and there are no compositions that were originally written, say, for pregnant women, the elderly, students or schoolchildren.

2. What music is fashionable to listen to in our country? Are there any priorities?

Recently, in one of the social networks I managed to come across an interesting opinion poll. It turns out that the rock most in demand in our country was and continues to be, which managed to gain 31% of the vote. Only slightly behind him pop music, i.e. ordinary, populated with our television channels and radio stations popular music. She managed to reach 24%.

Initially, I was sure that chanson would be in third place. But, strangely enough, 15% of respondents cast their votes for classical compositions. So, it’s far from so bad if the population continues to queue for tickets to the philharmonic or organ hall, and our children will know that V.A. chocolate brand from Germany.

After that, the ranking follows electronic music revered among young people (11%).

And, finally, the top five are closed by chanson and hip-hop, who scored the same number of votes - 8% each.

The remaining 3% was shared among lovers of jazz, blues, reggae, Russian folklore and country.

3. What kind of music to listen to? Psychologists point of view

First of all, according to experts, the influence of music on a particular person depends on one factor, namely, on the individual susceptibility of the central nervous system.

In the course of numerous studies, it was found that pleasant and beloved music can beneficially affect the human circulatory system.

Scientists conducted a kind of experiment. In one of the well-known clinics, 10 people of various ages, sex and social status were invited. Each of them was offered to listen to music while the doctors conducted all the necessary studies. As a result, 26% of the subjects showed an improvement in their general condition if they liked the music, and 6% if not.

Psychologists insist that the most useful for our body is classical music, in second place is folk. It is strange that pop does not have any effect at all, but excessive passion for rock can provoke a mental illness.
