Who is the voter? Position master or doll?

The ideal democratic model is that people elect power, actively control it and change it when it is conceited. What if not so? Maybe the opposite is true? Perhaps the government does not bake at all, but the people bake, and “dance” it, as it wishes? Or maybe citizens like it?

What kind of beast is a voter?

In any democratic state, the voter is every citizen who has the right to participate in elections. Whether it's the election of the president or elections to the village council. The voter is all of us.

Civil society

A citizen may participate in elections if he:

  1. He is capable - capable of acquiring rights and obligations and using them, that is, he has come of age and has not yet moved his mind.
  2. Legal - able to have rights, that is, born and not yet dead.

In some cases stipulated by law, foreign citizens can also be voters.

What are his rights?

Voter rights are at the same time his duties if he realizes himself the master of the country and wishes her a better life.

The voter has the right:

  • elect "servants of the people" at all levels - federal, regional, municipal;
  • take part in referenda;
  • demand inclusion in the electoral lists;
  • require inclusion in referendum lists;
  • and, finally, to be chosen yourself.

Do they really exist?

The voter is full and truly the master of the country when the main intrigue in the election is who will win. When he considers his right to be a duty and is confident that his voice is able to influence his future as a citizen and the country as a whole. When is an official really a servant of the people? In a democracy, the voter is power.

However, “have the right” and “have the opportunity” do not always coincide. This is evident when the voter, for whomever he votes, knows for sure who will win. The question arises: who is “dancing” to whom? In this case, the voter is a statistician, a means to an end, and not the master of the situation.

People and population

There are two explanations for this:

  • or the people love their servants so much that they roll them on themselves;
  • or he doesn’t care what happens to the country.

If the second option is true, there is no civil society in the country. And if so, there can be no democracy. They are “people” or “population” —the citizens of each country choose for themselves.
