How to build an artificial pond with your own hands?

Today it has become popular to arrange an artificial pond on your site. With your own hands you can create a beautiful pond or a small piece of the river. They will become the central element of your site, no matter in what style it is executed. But in order to independently build artificial decorative ponds, you have to work hard.

The first thing to do is pick a place. Several factors play a role here. For example, if you want to add a fountain to the reservoir in the form of a cascade of steps, then you need a hilly area. And for an ordinary pond or a small lake, a flat topography is ideal. Naturally, you should take into account the size of your site, and, accordingly, the size of the reservoir. Pay attention to the plants that will surround him. If there are many large shrubs or trees next to it, then there is a high probability of frequent clogging of the water tank. It is desirable that the territory is more open, then there will be less garbage in the water, which means that cleaning will have to be done much less often.

The second stage is the choice of material from which an artificial pond will be built with your own hands. Today, a wide variety of special forms of tanks are produced, and the material from which they are made is very different. They can be made of reinforced plastic, fiberglass, butyl rubber or polyvinyl chloride. Having picked up the form, you can begin to install it. To do this, dig a hole. Remove the vegetation layer on the plot, set the bowl and use the sand to outline the contours of the foundation pit and its deep zones. Now the corresponding pit is dug out by these marks. Please note that it should be 10 cm larger on all sides of the tank. Sand is poured on the bottom and well compacted, then the tank is installed. Now you should fill the space between it and the walls of the pit. This can be done using wet sand. But to make the shrinkage faster, 1/3 fill this space with water, and then fill it with sand, and the water will gradually rise to the very top.

It is quite possible to build an artificial pond with your own hands even without a ready-made mold. Preparation takes place, as in the first embodiment. A pit is dug up, the bottom is covered with a layer of sand 15 cm thick. Now the entire pit is covered with an insulating film - so that its edges protrude well beyond the pit. The film can be given good elasticity if it is spread out in the sun for a while before that. To thoroughly fix the film, you need to make a 15 cm ditch along the entire perimeter of the reservoir, put the edges of the film into it and fix it with stones or gravel.

Now ponds can be filled with water, install a filter, a pump for the fountain and decorate the coastal zone. For example, with natural boulders you can lay out some semblance of a rim framing an artificial pond with your own hands (a photo of such a pond shows all the natural beauty of such a decor). And if you want to use more vegetation, then lay mats made of coconut fiber along the coastline. They will contribute to the rooting of plants. Choose beautiful and vibrant plants that prefer moist soil. This can be reeds, ferns, arrowheads, pampas grass, reeds, yellow iris, marsh callas or codweed. Well, and, of course, what artificial pond built with their own hands will do without lilies? They become the main decoration of any pond. And in the end, you can run there fish or even turtles.
